So do we have a good show for you guys today? Well, obviously, otherwise, why would we show up? So, okay, here's some of the topics we're going to talk about. So, Yosemite is being sold off, of course. Okay, so we're going to talk about Israel, because that's the country we live in today, apparently.
We've got now almost all the major cable news networks running ads for Israel inside their content, pretending that it's news, like hey, Israel is the greatest country in the world. We just randomly wanted to tell you about it, because they're totally unbiased and objective. Milo has been arrested. In the old days, I might have celebrated that, but was he arrested for the right reasons or not? That's a good question, cuz there aren't plenty of things they arrested for. But anyways, crypto gains is someone else's crypto losses. How much losses did Donald Trump put on, well, mainly his fans, but also of course the crooks that he released out of prison and all the other dirty deals that he did. So, tons of fascinating info to get to today. So you know what, Elliott?
Without further ado, let's get started.

So this is Lake Ontario in Canada and in the United States. But we're gonna make a little change, we're gonna call it something different than Lake Ontario. We're gonna call it Lake America, and all it takes is a good pen and some intelligence. So Lake Ontario, that's gone, Lake America.
So now we have a lake, and now we have a gulf.

Yeah, so Donald Trump is of course determined to be as petty as humanly possible as he starts a trade war with Canada. He's going so far now, is signing an executive order, changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America. Because we all remember how successful it was when he changed the name of Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. This guy, he loves naming things. Now here's the thing, if Natalie Harp had googled this, Trump would know this. But basically Lake Ontario isn't actually named after Ontario.
It's actually the other way around. As Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wrote on X, the name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontario, which appropriately means the lake is beautiful, the lake is big. The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms. Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario, then, now and always. Of course, Trump's executive order only changes the name federally. It absolutely has no authority in countries outside of the US. As Trump continues poking fun at Canada with jabs like this, he also continues to be blissfully unaware of how terrible his trade war is for us Americans. Not only has Canada issued retaliatory tariffs on $27.6 billion in US goods, including things like steel, aluminum, fish, cheese, Canadian fiber, and more. But things could also get much worse because the Ontario Premier Doug Ford has begun threatening to cut off Canadian power to the US and urging other Canadian officials to do so as well. Everything's on the table, but I can't do it alone. I'm not the only province that ships electricity down to the US. We need a team Canada approach. Ontario on its own probably would not have that much of an impact, but if more provinces get involved, electricity prices for Americans could go up. In total, Canada supplied less than 1% of the total electricity used in the US last year. However, that's not divided evenly among states as some in the northern US get a more significant share of their power from the neighboring country. According to John Parsons, who's a senior lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management and Research with its Center for Energy and Environmental Policy, if we don't receive the imports from Canada, we have to switch on more expensive plants and we could get the power from those more expensive plants. But we would then be increasing our CO2 emissions in addition to paying higher costs. Parsons added in a follow up email to The Hill, exact costs could be difficult to calculate, but estimated that a shutoff of Canadian power could cost between $300 million and $600 million per year. Canada's action could be a quote, relatively small portion of the electric bill, but everybody is already up in arms about their electric bill. So everything that adds to it is a problem, Parsons said. US electricity costs are already up 4.2% from the year before. Canada has adopted a pretty defiant attitude with this trade war. So they're prepared to take on any pain that this might cause. This time around, Canada finds itself in a stronger position, having established new economic ties over the last year, including an auto agreement with South Korea, tariff rollbacks with China, and a landmark deal to export energy to Germany. Canada also reset diplomatic ties with India, producing a deal to restart uranium exports. The Canadian government also announced $5 billion in support to help workers and businesses affected by the US tariffs. Of course, there is hope that the two countries will resume talks. Carney told reporters on Monday that Canada would return to the negotiating table only when US officials show up with the right attitude and demonstrate respect for the country's sovereignty. He said last week that the US made unfair last minute demands and that the US signature is sometimes written in pencil. So of course, we'll see what actually happens, but we'll stop right there for a second. Get your thoughts, Cenk, what do you think?
