Welcome.

It is great to be here with you today. I am coming to you this week from the 144th Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus, where delegates from all around the world have gathered to pray to celebrate and to chart the future of one of the largest organizations on earth. And I am telling you, this has been just an extraordinary experience. You have to be here to see it. I am going to try in the days ahead to give you a look at what is unfolding here and to take a look at the nearly 2 million Catholic men who belong to the Knights. In the days ahead, you are going to meet people behind the mission, you are going to hear some inspiring stories of faith and action, and you are going to see some of the extraordinary accomplishments of the Knights. In fact, I am joined today by Sean Potts.
When you think about evangelization, you often think about missionaries who travel to distant countries or out to preach, but evangelization begins, I think, with a whole lot more. It's in your parish, it's in your family, it's in your everyday life, and that's what my next guest is all about. Sean is the Director of Evangelization and Education for the Knights of Columbus. And Sean, great to have you here with me today.

**Sean Pott** (1:19)
Sure, it's a pleasure to be here with you.

**Drew Mariani** (1:20)
Good afternoon. I understand you are from Colorado, where I am broadcasting from tonight.

**Sean Pott** (1:23)
I am, I am originally from Golden, Colorado.

**Drew Mariani** (1:25)
That sounds great. There's been wildfires out in the west, and I noticed that you really can't see the Rocky Mountains from there.

**Sean Pott** (1:31)
The Purple Mountains Majesty right now should be nice and purple, but you can't see them.

**Drew Mariani** (1:35)
That's wild. Hey, you're my very first guest of our live broadcast here today. And there's a lot of people around the country who I know are familiar with the Knights and the work they do. Their charitable outreach is phenomenal.
They see them in church. But maybe for those who aren't familiar, those who may not know a whole lot more than other than what they've seen or maybe heard, give us a little insight into who you guys are.

**Sean Pott** (1:55)
Absolutely.
We have 144 years of rich history. And I think, like you said, there's a lot of parishes that have the Knights of Columbus. And often people only know the Knights based upon their limited experience on Sundays after mass or maybe for an event that the council is putting on. But we are much more than fish fries and pancakes.
We're looking specifically to our founder, Blessed Michael McGivney, who was a son of Irish immigrants and had a true pastor's heart and a zeal for souls. And what he saw in New Haven inspired the Knights of Columbus to be an order of charity, unity, and fraternity. But for men who needed to stay faithful and to keep them faithful, to help them grow in their faith, and he cared for their souls as a father would. But also for the families that lost that breadwinner, lost a husband and father, how are we going to take care of them? How are we going to take care of those widows and orphans? And so charity and Evangelization have been key to who we are since the very beginning.

**Drew Mariani** (2:57)
I love it. My mission is Evangelization, too. They were all called to do that. It's the Great Commission, right? To bring Christ to the world, to introduce others, to what we do. We do it through the media. You do it through so many different outreaches. I mean, everything from insurance to, you know, international relief. It's kind of crazy to what we see in the pews, to the cause of life, to patriotism. It's been a wonderful work.
Evangelization is your mission.
I think it's more needed than ever. We live in a world that has become very disoriented, is probably the right word for it. And the only thing that really brings clarity to that confusion is Christ. Maybe you could speak to that because that is your mission. How do you do that in a world where there's so many lies and so many ideologies and, in some respects, so many religions?

**Sean Pott** (3:45)
You know, I think we're seeing so many Knights, so many men who are clearly wanting to go deeper in their faith. You see a lot of young men who are asking a lot of questions. You know, we've seen such a resurgence in OCIA. So many parishes that have been welcoming new people to the church because they're confused. They're just, like you said, they're disoriented. They're being fed lies and like, I'm starting to realize that this is a lie. Where's the truth? Where is the truth?
