SPEAKER_3 (0:37)

OK, our friends, so today we're going to do another ghost story because it's spooky season and it's always fun to do a story about a ghost, isn't it?

SPEAKER_4 (0:51)

So today's story is called Leo, A Ghost Story.

SPEAKER_5 (0:56)

The pictures are by Christian Robinson and the story was written by Mac Barnett. And these are two of our favorite content makers, this author and this artist.

SPEAKER_3 (1:10)

So friends, if you don't have your copy of this book, you've got to get a copy because it's a winner for spooky season.

SPEAKER_5 (1:16)

It's just a winner in general for friendship. And this story, I'll put a link to it on my Amazon affiliates page so you can go and grab a copy.

Lisa Bueno (1:27)

And with that being said, we shall read, shall we? So today's story is read by Mommy and...

Philip (1:34)

Philip.

Lisa Bueno (1:35)

That's right.

Philip (1:37)

No spoilers, but I actually have read this book already.

SPEAKER_3 (1:41)

I know, you pre-read sometimes.

Lisa Bueno (1:43)

I try not to.

SPEAKER_5 (1:45)

Shall we?

Philip (1:45)

I've seen you do it.

SPEAKER_5 (1:47)

Okay, I might do it every now and then.

Philip (1:49)

You do it all the time. You do it to every story.

SPEAKER_3 (1:53)

So, without any further ado, here we go.

SPEAKER_9 (1:58)

This is Leo. Most people cannot see him.

SPEAKER_5 (2:03)

And in the picture, we see a beautiful blue room with a window and a table and a phone and some books, but no person, right?

SPEAKER_10 (2:12)

Ah, but you can.

SPEAKER_9 (2:14)

Leo is a ghost.

Lisa Bueno (2:16)

And in the picture, now we can see Leo.

SPEAKER_5 (2:18)

He's under the table and he's reading a book. For many years, Leo lived by himself in a house on the edge of the city, reading books and drawing pictures in the dust.

SPEAKER_11 (2:32)

One day in spring, a family moved in.

SPEAKER_5 (2:37)

And it does look like they're a nice family, I think. Leo was glad to have company.

On the family's first night, he made the mint tea and honey toast. Leo thought he was being a good host.

SPEAKER_10 (2:51)

But the family saw things differently.

SPEAKER_3 (2:54)

Oh, they are frowning and looking upset.

SPEAKER_5 (3:00)

They hid in the bathroom and locked the door.

SPEAKER_9 (3:02)

This house is haunted, said the man.

SPEAKER_5 (3:06)

Gary, I'm scared, said the woman.

SPEAKER_11 (3:09)

I hate tea, said the boy. And I hate ghosts.

SPEAKER_9 (3:13)

They did not know that Leo was floating above the tub.

SPEAKER_5 (3:18)

He heard everything they said. Leo looks shocked and is deeply upset.

SPEAKER_12 (3:27)

Oh, that family really is scared of Leo.

But I don't know why. Hmm.

SPEAKER_3 (3:34)

I don't know.

SPEAKER_8 (3:35)

We gotta keep reading.

SPEAKER_5 (3:37)

The family called a scientist, a clergyman, and a psychic to get rid of the ghost.

SPEAKER_3 (3:43)

But they should have saved their money, because Leo knew he was unwanted. He said goodbye to his home and left.

SPEAKER_11 (3:53)

I have been a house ghost all my life, Leo thought.

Philip (3:58)

So maybe I would like being a roaming ghost for a while.

SPEAKER_11 (4:03)

So Leo roamed.

SPEAKER_9 (4:06)

Leo saw the city and the people who lived there.

SPEAKER_11 (4:09)

Nobody saw Leo.

Lisa Bueno (4:12)

The city was not like Leo remembered it.

Philip (4:15)

Some places were wonderful.

SPEAKER_3 (4:17)

Some places were scary everywhere.

SPEAKER_9 (4:20)

It was so noisy.

SPEAKER_5 (4:23)

Leo went to a street corner where his favorite candy store used to be. Now nothing was there.

SPEAKER_11 (4:31)

Excuse me, he asked a police officer.

SPEAKER_12 (4:35)

Do you know where?

SPEAKER_3 (4:37)

The officer walked right through him.

Lisa Bueno (4:41)

Which I suppose is normal if you're a ghost, right?

SPEAKER_1 (4:44)

Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_5 (4:46)

There was an afternoon when Leo found himself roaming along a sidewalk covered in drawings.

SPEAKER_3 (4:51)

He came across a girl holding chalk in her hand.

Lisa Bueno (4:56)

The girl looked up and straight at Leo.
