I don't want to bicker with you today. It's Friday. I'm feeling light and airy because it's Friday. We're rolling into the weekend. It's going to be a great weekend. We're going to start off today's show with a bang. If you saw the cold open with Elon Musk, that was a great interview. I recommend people watch it. He did a great job in that. But we've got Evan Barker.
Evan Barker is somebody that I've been following for a while. She's a former Democrat operative and fundraiser. She raised over $50 million for Democrats, some of them very far left. And she's the author of a new book called Nothing Left, Confessions of a Democrat Operative. Evan, welcome to the show. It's great to have you. I cannot wait to have this discussion.

Welcome, welcome. Yeah, long time to see you. I think I saw you at a turning point. I know, right?

**Andrew Colvett** (2:30)
I have, I was gonna say, I've met you in person once. It was brief, because I am always running around like a crazy person at our events, but I saw you there. And it's great to have you on the show. This was something that we planned to do with Charlie, because we were in touch just here and there, and I saw your journey play out.
You have this new book, and it's Confessions, it's Nothing Left, Confessions of a Democrat Operative. You raised over $50 million for Democrats. You've worked with people that, people listening to the show will have heard of, Abdul El-Sayed. You worked with AOC's team, with Bernie's team, with Jasmine Crockett.
You've at least been around the same circles as Ilhan Omar, Jamal Bowman, Brad Lander, Corey Bush, Justice Democrats and other DSA-aligned PACs. And then something happened. You put out a TikTok to your 60 followers, and your world forever changed. Why don't you start there?

**Evan Barker** (3:32)
Yeah, my world forever changed that day. You know, I went to the DNC in 2024, just like you did. I think we briefly talked about how you guys were also there. And at that point, I had actually been out of progressive politics for a couple of years.
I had a little baby boy in June of 2022 And after I had him, I decided to take a step back from fundraising and just focus on being a mom. And we can talk more later about how motherhood actually also helped reshape my political views quite a bit. But I decided in 2024, after it was apparent that Joe Biden would not be the nominee, to go to the Democratic National Convention and the hopes that I might see them remake themselves. At this point, I was already a little disillusioned, to say the least, just because all of the horrible experiences I had working for all of those people that you just mentioned.
I went to the DNC and I gave myself permission to be re-inspired. But when I got there and I saw it in person, it was even worse than I remembered. I knew at that moment that there was no way in hell Kamala Harris was going to win. I actually ended up leaving night three of the DNC, right after Oprah Winfrey spoke, and I write about this in my book. I left and I came home a day early. And when I got home, I decided that I was officially, truly done working in democratic politics. And so I posted a video on TikTok. I thought it was only going to go out to like 60 people. The people that I worked with followed me and I won. It was basically my resignation letter. And instead I woke up and there was millions of views. And Charlie Kirk DMed me. It was like people were talking about it on Fox News. Like it was, it turned into this like totally whirlwind experience that I was not prepared for at all.
