Growing a business is so exciting, and it's so overwhelming. I remember that when I owned my business, which was a political consulting and issue advocacy consulting business, at one point, I was paying taxes in like six states, and I had so much compliance and regulatory to pay attention to. And if you're growing internationally, you know it's just not about knowing who you want to hire. It's about keeping everything in that country running smoothly as you scale. And that's where Pebl comes in. If you're a founder or an HR leader, building a great team is the fun part, right? Managing everything that comes with it as you grow globally is where things can get tricky. And Pebl makes that part easier. Pebl makes global hiring simple. I'm Morra Aarons-Mele and welcome to The Anxious Achiever. Today, I have a great treat for you. I've got three guests, which I think I've only done once before. And we are going to talk about human-centered leadership and futures-centered leadership. And I have to tell you, if you are a leader and you feel things deeply, which if you listen to the show, you do, and maybe you worry too, which probably if you listen to the show, you do, this episode is for you. I sit down with three of my co-contributors to a brand new anthology called Leading for Tomorrow. So I have Scott Anthony, who is a professor at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business and a longtime innovation consultant and expert, Lisa Kay Solomon, who teaches futures thinking and design at the Stanford D. School, and Chris Shipley, who is a fantastic leadership expert, the book's co-editor, along with Scott Barry Kaufman, and a veteran tech journalist and strategist. And together, we in this book Leading for Tomorrow are part of a group of 26 leadership thinkers and including other heavy hitters like Amy Edmondson and Whitney Johnson, trying to answer one of the hardest questions of our generation and our moment, which is what does effective leadership actually look like when nothing is certain, when disruption, when the permacrisis or the status quo, right? So we talk about this, how to face this moment with clarity. You can't have certainty, how to live with ambiguity, which is actually something that Lisa teaches students at Stanford and why agency might be the thing that saves us. We get into personal practices for tolerating discomfort, how to play, and have joy at work. It's such a great conversation. It goes in directions I wasn't predicting, like how a German stranger at a conference changed how Scott sees his entire identity. Let's get into it.
I'm so happy to have you all.
Scott Anthony, Chris Shipley, Lisa Kay Solomon. Welcome to The Anxious Achiever. And we have so much to talk about. We couldn't possibly do it all in an hour. But one of the things I would like to offer today to my listeners, many of whom are senior leaders who feel very deeply and maybe worry a little bit, is sort of a roadmap for clarity and feeling a little bit more okay about this moment that we find ourselves in.
How does that sound?
