On today's College Football Enquirer, Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford, Mississippi for the first time since he went out for cigarettes and didn't come home.
Steven Godfrey (0:09)
I thought he did yoga, though.
Andy Staples (0:11)
He does.
But is he right that all the pressure is on Ole Miss? We will discuss that. Plus, Florida State fires athletic director Michael Alford. What does that mean for another Michael? Norvell. Also, the bill is back. The Senate is back in session. Could the bill come up for a vote this week? Ross Dellenger has the latest. We'll talk about it all in today's College Football Enquirer. This is the College Football Enquirer presented by Las Vegas, home of the 2027 College Football Playoff National Championship and two teams that expect to be there meeting this weekend in Oxford, Mississippi.
Steven Godfrey (2:01)
Buddy.
Andy Staples (2:02)
No other drama besides that, right guys?
Steven Godfrey (2:05)
So, so much for the pre-show meeting where we were going to talk rationally about this game and Andy intros it as two teams who expect to be in the National Championship. This is going great.
Ross Dellenger (2:14)
It's like a national semifinal.
Steven Godfrey (2:16)
Here we go in September in Oxford.
Andy Staples (2:18)
You know what this game needs? Hey, you know who got to the National Semifinals last year? Pete Golding in Ole Miss.
Ross Dellenger (2:26)
You know who wasn't coaching him?
Andy Staples (2:27)
Lane Kiffin.
Ross Dellenger (2:29)
But what did Lane say if he was coaching him? They would have won and made it to the championship game and won that. Didn't he say that? I feel like he said that maybe. Yeah, in the spring at some point maybe. This is going to be fun. I'm going to hobble down there. My first game of the year after the fractured fibula.
Still fractured, but there's nothing like some Oxford boozing that will fix a fractured fibula.
Steven Godfrey (2:58)
I think that's how we got into this.
Ross Dellenger (2:59)
Yeah.
Steven Godfrey (3:00)
I don't know, Ross. Let's be careful this week.
Ross Dellenger (3:03)
You know, hair of the dog.
Steven Godfrey (3:04)
Let's be careful.
Ross Dellenger (3:06)
Yeah. It's going to be a circus down there. In fact, I was talking to both sides and they both, I think, expect to have more law enforcement.
Traveling LSU and then in the Grove and at the stadium, there'll be more law enforcement. So they're bracing themselves for quite a circus of a weekend. It should be fun.
Steven Godfrey (3:29)
Ross, did you catch Pete Golding's Monday presser yesterday, in which a very obvious, I'll just go ahead and say it was a planted question about designed for Mr. Golding to please ask everyone on the Ole Miss side to be on good behavior this weekend.
Andy Staples (3:46)
Did you guys notice that? I did not. It's the opposite of Will Stein.
Steven Godfrey (3:51)
Ole Miss is about the people.
We're famous for having hospitality, so please be hospitable. It was a real, you could tell it was like, I don't know if legal, if the university council drew it up, but there was like, hey man, all you angry boomers on the message boards, please don't try and fight anyone this weekend. But I have talked to people in Mississippi for a while now that are actually in law enforcement, and this is going to look and feel very, very different than any Ole Miss LSU game in history. It's going to look and feel different than any Ole Miss game in history. I do think that one of the positive side effects of the escalation in the media, because it's our fault of this game, is that the university, local law enforcement, state law enforcement, everybody is prepared for, very much a prepare for the worst and hope for the best situation. Again, I said this on Sunday, congratulations in advance to any bail bondsman between Grenada and Memphis. Enjoy the jet ski you'll be purchasing off of this weekend's work.
