Today is October 6th. All right, big news from the Rangers last night. They took down their rivals, the New York Islanders, in a solid 5-2 victory, marking their fourth straight win.

Alexis Lafrenière had a night to remember scoring a hat trick and racking up 4 points overall. That's a player stepping up when it counts. They entered the game writing a 3-game winning streak, and it shelled with a stronger, quicker forecheck right from the jump. Cole Beaudoin made his NHL debut after a strong start in Hartford, and it looks like he earned that spot with his play. Gotta love that kind of energy. Lafrenière kicked things off with a big play in the first period, forcing a turnover that led to Oliver Bjorkstrandt's opening goal.

The Rangers didn't allow the first goal for the fifth time this season, which is a huge turnaround from last year.

That strong start is definitely something Mike Sullivan will be pleased about. Then Lafrenière showed off his skills again in the second period with a blistering wrist shot to stretch the lead. Though the Isle spot back, tying the game briefly, the Rangers regained control, thanks in part to another goal from Björk Strand. He's really emerging as a key player on that power play.

In the end, Lafrenière sealed the deal with 2 empty netters. With hats flying in the garden, the Rangers are starting to find their groove. After a tough schedule to kick off the season, it feels like they're building momentum and laying down a serious foundation for success this year.
