Mistake don't matter, you could be mysterious and broke. They don't feel the need to touch their credit card, that don't really help. Once you get to a CVV fan, now you can talk.
Rashad Bilal (0:07)
How do you decide for what you're gonna put? Like, are you just, hey, I'm giving you everything.
KevOnStage (0:11)
If I can think of three things to say on the topic, funny or interesting or my point of view, then I'll throw it up. I always wanna stay in your feed.
Troy Millings (0:18)
You put out a tremendous amount of content. How is that done?
KevOnStage (0:22)
I do videos that take me less than five minutes from the moment I see the content to shoot, edit and have it re-posted. And I let the internet give me the ideas.
Troy Millings (0:31)
When you are working with Hollywood, how are you approaching that when it comes to equity and ownership?
KevOnStage (0:36)
The more pieces of content you own and the more places are buying content, it's like owning the music masters. Because for the rest of my life, these properties I created are going to create income from me.
Troy Millings (0:48)
You said monogamy is one of the keys to your success.
Rashad Bilal (0:50)
Yeah.
Troy Millings (0:51)
Can you explain that?
KevOnStage (0:52)
The thought of another woman in my room, I'd be like, man, watch out.
SPEAKER_4 (0:55)
I'm tired.
KevOnStage (0:57)
I would be less efficient if I was trying to manage three or four women.
Rashad Bilal (1:01)
I think the brilliant part was the pivot that you made and the honesty that you had like, hey, I'm doing this wrong in front of everybody.
KevOnStage (1:08)
Yeah.
Rashad Bilal (1:08)
Because it worked perfectly.
KevOnStage (1:10)
Shout out to my wife. She looked me dead in my face and she was like, it ain't working. You're not telling people what this book is and what it's going to do for them. You're just being funny. Being honest and straight up allowed me to cut through all the BS.
Troy Millings (1:25)
All right, guys, welcome back. Special episode of Earn Your Leisure. Yeah, I'm excited. A highly anticipated guest, somebody that's been killing the game for a long time, Kev OnStage. What's up, my brother?
KevOnStage (1:35)
What's up, man?
SPEAKER_4 (1:35)
Kev, welcome, man.
KevOnStage (1:37)
Thank y'all. Thank y'all for having me. I'm in the city. You feel me?
Troy Millings (1:39)
Yeah, you are here. Welcome to New York.
KevOnStage (1:41)
Around here, man. Bacon, egg and cheese, salt, pepper, ketchup.
Rashad Bilal (1:44)
All the things. And you said it as one word, so we appreciate that.
KevOnStage (1:47)
Yeah, that's how I know it's real. I feel like I still ain't had a real one because I never have time to go. Everybody's like, bro, you can't get it time square.
Where I be staying, they be like, bro, you have to go for real. So I need to make a trek to a legit bodega.
Rashad Bilal (2:01)
During the day.
KevOnStage (2:02)
During the day. Yeah, during the day.
Rashad Bilal (2:03)
Early day.
KevOnStage (2:04)
Yeah. When everybody's at work, you know what I'm saying?
Rashad Bilal (2:07)
After like two, then it becomes Chopped Cheese Song.
KevOnStage (2:10)
Yeah, and I'll stay right there for the changeover.
Troy Millings (2:13)
For the changeover.
KevOnStage (2:14)
I need to go 11.30. The midday switch. I'll pull back up at 2.30. With the bag.
SPEAKER_4 (2:19)
Yeah, yeah, with the bag.
Troy Millings (2:22)
So man, we got a great history last year. You did Invest Festival. Yeah, yeah. Thank y'all for having me, man.
You took our award a few years before that.
Rashad Bilal (2:29)
You did take our award.
KevOnStage (2:29)
Come on, man.
Rashad Bilal (2:31)
You earned the award.
KevOnStage (2:32)
Yeah, I earned my leisure.
Rashad Bilal (2:36)
Best.
KevOnStage (2:36)
Tap, tap. It's my homegirl, and she smacked me the first time.
She took the award and was like very good. So you know what I'm saying?
Rashad Bilal (2:44)
It was only, you know what? When I realized that personality, like the campaign you ran, it was incredible.
KevOnStage (2:51)
I was, because the thing is I lost that award twice.
So I campaigned hard the first time, lost to Tap. Second time I was in my Phil and Twine campaign, then I lost again. So the third time I was like, they're not gonna nominate me again.
SPEAKER_4 (3:03)
So I'm going hard.
KevOnStage (3:04)
If I lose the third time, I just, and now they broke the categories out. Cause I think they feel like it makes more sense. You know, you got a comedian, financial advice, and somebody who's an activist. These are very different platforms. You know, somebody's making funny videos. It's just not the same.
