All right, Colts win, Colts win! 30 to 13 in London Town over the Washington Commanders. My name is Nigel Jason Hammer, right over there with a very special guest on the hotline.

Hammer (0:11)

From our sister sports station, 93.51075 The Fan. He's part of the morning show, Kevin Bowen with us. All right, so KB, Colts have won two games in a row. Why aren't I more excited? I'm a Colts fan, I'm a Colts season ticket holder, I watch pretty much every play.

A win is a win. I've always heard that, but man, these have been some ugly wins. Should I be more excited as a fan?

Kevin Bowen (0:41)

Well, I'm not sure where you're coming from, certainly on that one, Hammer. I mean, you look at yesterday, for example, it's one of the weirder three score wins I think I've ever seen in my life. I'm like, wow, 30 to 13 Like if you did nothing Sunday morning, like if you had a life and didn't watch the Colts game, you'd be like, wow, that's awesome, man. What a great win. I can't wait to see the highlights. And then they show the highlights and it's like, wait, they didn't show Daniel Jones like one time.

What happened in this game?

That's the alarming part. Right now as your quarterback, you are winning in spite of your quarterback. And I think, you know, anytime we watch football, when that is happening, skepticism is there of like, yeah, this isn't really real. You played a third string rookie. If this continues, you're going to be watching the playoffs, you know, from the couch for the sixth year in a row. So I think that's why fans are met with a lot of the skepticism, very understandably, through this two and two start. So I think it's totally fair. I get it's weird. A win is a win, but you know, how you get the wins largely determine how many you're going to get. And right now, if the Colts continue this type of play, I don't think they'll get as many as they would obviously like to get.

Hammer (1:52)

Yeah, this was a team that was down six to nothing before Washington's backup quarterback, Marcus Mariota, who's a pretty decent backup, a dude certainly capable of pulling out a W. The Colts end up knocking him out. And then here comes Mele Kalikimaka or whatever the hell his name is from Rutgers to come in.

And at that point, it was pretty much decided the Colts were going to do the bare minimum and beat Washington. Yeah, Daniel Jones not looking very good. He can't hang on to the football. Do you think we were close at any point to Anthony Richardson time?

Kevin Bowen (2:31)

I don't. I don't. I think it's a fair question, first off, but no, I just think it changed Sagan's eyes. He has hitched his wagons financially, the organization has and himself to Daniel Jones. And I think there was a better chance that I climbed Mount Everest in the next month than Anthony Richardson starts the game for the Colts.

You know, if this play continues for a month plus, then I think it's a different combo, but I don't see it. Now, I want to make it clear, like that is my opinion of Sagan's read on the situation. If you're asking me my thoughts on Daniel Jones right now, 1000% he's got to play better. I mean, he's a turnover pumpkin. And the fact that the turnovers are starting to look repeatable and the same, I think, is very alarming as well. And even if you take out the turnovers, guys, like the other stuff isn't great. Like some quarterbacks turn the ball over. Josh Allen turns the ball over a decent amount, but he makes up for it with so much extraordinary around the 60 minutes of football. Daniel Jones right now, even when he's not turning the ball over, this passing offense without Alec Pierce is just bink and dunk central.

Nigel Jason Hammer (3:38)

Kevin Bowen, 107.5, the fan here on the Hammer and Nigel Show. Let's move over to the sidelines just for a second, and then we'll get back onto the field. But Carly Irsay coming up in the news again, she's got her headset, she's got her notes, and now the cameras caught her bugging the coaches. At least that was my interpretation of it. Usually it's just her taking notes and she's by herself not talking to anybody, but this was kind of different.

Kevin Bowen (4:04)

Yeah, I don't know if I maybe missed a clip, but yeah, the clip I saw I thought was her maybe pregame speaking with some of them. So again, when this conversation comes up, I largely think it's pretty overblown. I think this is something she has done for years. She does it at practice, like that is not very performative to me at all.
