All right, everybody, welcome to the party. Today is Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 This is episode 1149, hello, of Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Gerald Auger, coming to you again, live, from the Western Georgia Pavilion, here in glorious West Virginia, I mean, glorious Georgia. Turn on my fill light, there we go, or my fill light, there we go. Guys, if you're looking to stay current on the top cyber news stories of the day, while getting insights and additional value from both myself and my 20 years of experience and this amazing Simply Cyber community directly above me, well, you're in the right place, because that's what we do every single day at 8 a.m. Eastern. Delivering value 1,148 times in a row. Let's do it one more time today and keep the party going. I'm Jerry, your chat. Let's cook.
All right, good morning, everybody. Love to see you in chat. I wanna say what's up to some folks here. Kenneth J., William Bailey, Space Chocos and that Auditor 2 interview. Basically becoming a personified member of the Simply Cyber community, always looking for updates from that. Nightbot, of course, Pirate Kitty, a recent first timer who's stuck around and really become part of the community. Phil Stafford is always with the AI people. Steve Young, thawing out up in Minnesota. My good friend, James, so quick and at 35,000 feet on the right. Ad Tech and the team solo crew. D Prem 11, what up my guy? Almighty. Good to see everybody here. Hope you're having fun. If you're watching on replay, I hope you can join us live someday, maybe on day off or a holiday that people don't work, but somehow I still do. Whatever it is, good morning, AAA. Witherspoon and Sam Sojula. I think Sean Saylor is in here and Brooke Steele. Brute 7679 Guys, we are going to go through eight of the top cyber stories of the day, and there might be a bonus one because DJ B-Sec dropped something in Mod Chat. That's an absolute blistering update. And I don't have high confidence that if it didn't come out yesterday before 5 p.m. that it's in today's news. But we will have a bonus story that's earth shaking for the community, the cybersecurity community, not simply cyber exclusively. And for each of those stories, yes, we do the headline. You can go through it yourself, et cetera, et cetera. But what we do here is go beyond that headline, dig into the details. What can you do with this information to level yourself up as a professional, to help reduce risk at your cyber organization, to protect yourself and those you love from scammers and fraudsters. That's what we're doing here every single day. Now, because we're here every single day and because this qualifies as an instructor-led webinar, well, every episode is worth half a CPE. Now, if you don't know what a CPE is, I've made it quite easy. All you have to do is go to cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io/cpe.
You can also hit exclamation point CPE in chat, and the little automated bot will tell you where it is.
You can see it on screen right here. For those on replay, just go check it out. If you're listening on audio only, it is the official CPE catch page for the Daily Cyber Threat Brief, for this podcast. So this podcast is worth half of CPE. The easiest way to keep track of that is to go to this website. Couple little form fields here. Oh, what's my name? What's my email address? The name is so I can put it on your certificate of attendance, your email address, and so I can send it to you. These check boxes are you attesting that you're actually doing this work, and that it's okay for me to email you. And then submit attestation. That's it. Very simple. It's totally on the nose. There's no additional shenanigans here of like, oh, let me scan your badge. Okay, I'm going to send you like 3,000 emails between now and the end of the month when you get your CPE certification. Nope, this is just a courtesy that we do here for the community in order for you to be able to not sweat CPEs and enjoy the show. So be sure to get your certs, get your certificates. I'm sorry, guys, the coffee hasn't kicked in. It's day two in Georgia and I am rocking the double. This worked out yesterday, so we're going to keep on cooking with it.
If you're here for the first time, you might be like, whoa, there's a lot going on here. Well, you would be right.
