All right, what's up, everybody? Welcome to the party. That's right, it's Friday, June 12th, 2026 We're back at the Buffer-Ozure Flow Studio, kicking it old school, because I'm an old fool. That's right, Dr. Gerald Auger, coming to you live from the Buffer-Ozure Flow Studio. Ladies and gentlemen, it's the Daily Cyber Threat Brief. Get your popcorn, get your coffee, and get locked and loaded, because we're about to rip the top off the top cyber news stories of the day. It's gonna be a good one. Let's go.
All right, what's up, everybody? For real, though, it's great to be back here at the Buffer-Ozure Flow Studio, having all the little creature conference and accoutrements of, you know, the retro synthwave show, being able to stand up. I've been walking, I mean, I've been walking. I've been sitting to do the show. I'm not, dude, if you know me for a minute, I'm not the sitting energy kind of guy. I'm the stand up, big cup of coffee kind of guy. And that's what we're doing today. So if you're new here, this is the Daily Cyber Threat Brief. We are going to go through the top eight stories in cyber security. Of course, you get the headline. Of course, you get the 60 second snippet of whatever it is about the story you need to know. But the value of being part of this show is that I am going to take my 20 plus years of experience and absolute fervent passion for cyber security and go beyond the headlines. I'm going to throw on a snorkel. I'm going to get the little, I guess that is the snorkel, the mask and snorkel, maybe some scuba gear, and I'm going to dive deep into these stories and mine out some value for you, either something you can do to level up as a practitioner, something you can do today at work to reduce risk, or ultimately to be the CEO of you and make those decisions that benefit your career. All while doing this with the Simply Cyber community. Look at this crew right above me. Holler, where's my Ric Flair at? Ric Flair, Ric, there it is, Ric Flair. See what I'm saying, dude? We're straight crushing like a bunch of bosses up in this mother trucker. And the Simply Cyber community is a community unlike no other. You're not going to find anything like this anywhere else on the Internet. I promise you that. What do we got? James Aquiggin, five gifted subs just making it rain up in here. Thanks, James Aquiggin.
Might have to turn the sound effects up. We are working on the GoXLR mixing board. So that, you know, we got some challenges. If you can't hear the sound effects, I will do them manually. That's fine. All right, guys. Hey, as I mentioned, if you're here for the first time, I'm sure you're already frothing at the mouth with how awesome this intro is. But let me tell you more. If you are here for the first time, drop a hashtag first timer in chat. Hashtag first timer in chat. We love welcoming our first timers. We are a supportive, inclusive bunch of people, cyber security professionals and students. So drop a hashtag first timer. You'll get a special sound effect, a special emote, and an official warm welcome to the community. And guess what? If you come back tomorrow, you can welcome someone to the community. Devin Grady, 35 months, happy to be here this morning. This community is excellent. Thank you. What you do.
My man, Devin Grady, good friend of mine and also South Carolina native, my guy, Devin Grady. I love the Devin air. Also Devin, when I was at Cisco Live, they had baristas all over the place doing coffee art in addition to making really great coffees. So maybe I can like put you in my luggage next year. I don't know. We'll figure it out.
Anyways, hashtag first time or holler at me if you're here guys, every episode of the Daily Cyber Threat Brief, including episode 1,152 is worth half a CPE. So go to simplycyber.io/excuse me, cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io/cpe.
Got a link here. Nightbot's going to drop it. DJ Besec, 46 months with the squad. I think that's longer than I've been with the squad. Holler at you. Thank you, DJ Besec. Stay tuned because our friend DJ Besec is going to be making an appearance on Cyber Career Hotline's Friday panel. Putting the W out.
Every episode is worth half a CPE. When you go to the website, you'll see here this is the official website for this podcast. You can claim your half a CPE for attending today's brief. It's easy. Put in your name, you know it, put in your email address. You also know it. Check these two checkboxes. Very easy, very simple. Three seconds of effort, a lifetime of CPE evidence. Hit the yellow button. Basically, once a month, I'll send you an email. It'll look all fancy pants. It'll have all your CPEs lined up. You don't need to do screenshots anymore. We are leveling up here at Simply Cyber. And this is just another piece of that, you know, I guess, evidence or, you know, what's the word I'm looking for? Substantive, substance, whatever. I don't know why I'm having like a brain fart right now. This is substantive of what I'm talking about. We're here to support. We're here for inclusion. And yeah, giddy up on it. That's all there is to it. Now, Every Day of the Week has a special segment. And of course, Every Day has Cyber Career Hotline. Oh, me, yow, me, yow. Oh, my God. Mrs. Auger, she just like sat up somewhere and was like, oh, that's right. More of that at 9 a.m. Eastern time. But today is Friday, which means James LaQuigan, the same James LaQuigan who dropped five gifted subs earlier in the chat is going to be dropping dad jokes. I do have them on my phone. Just as a reminder, I do not review those jokes in advance. So you're watching me read them in real time and either cracking up or groaning. We'll see what happens. Stay tuned. That's going to happen about halfway through the hour, halfway through the show. Every episode of the Daily Cyber Threat Brief, thank goodness, is sponsored. I don't know, if you're married in chat, if you're married or have a partner or significant other and you tried to, if you tried to convince your spouse or your loved one that you were going to just go hang out in the garage and scream for an hour, but it wasn't paid, they might question you. So thank you. Shout out to the stream sponsors who I'll read in a second. But I got to start first with Marcus Kyler, 41 months, three weeks and still no emo trait, but I'll keep showing up regardless of this community. Yeet.
