All right, what's up, everybody? Welcome to Friday, we finally made it, thank goodness. Hope you're doing well, we got a great show for you. Welcome to Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief Podcast. I'm your host, Dr. Gerald Auger. Coming to you live from the Buffer Auger Flow Story. Buffer Auger Flow Studio.
Grab your coffee, I gotta take a big slug of mine, obviously. And get comfortable, we got a great show for you. Lined up here, the next hour is gonna be a banger.
Feeling good, ready to rock and roll, heading into Hacker Summer Camp for many of us next week. I know myself, James McQuiggan at 35,000, Mrs. Auger, and several others will be there. If you're gonna be at Hacker Summer Camp next week, drop a what's up in chat of some form. Say you'll be there. Maybe just Defcon, maybe just Black Hat. If you're gonna be going to the Simply Cyber Community Meetup, I really hope you, well, if you're gonna be going to Defcon, excuse me, I really hope you can make it to the Simply Cyber Community Annual Mega Super Throwdown, Knockdown, Dragout, Rager that we throw every Friday of Defcon. Guys, over the next hour, we're gonna go through eight stories together. We'll get the headline in the top level pieces of it, and then I'll dive deep into the story to give you additional insights and value. We'll rinse and repeat throughout the stories. It's gonna be a good one now. Every single day of the week has a special segment and long-standing stalwart segment of the show is Dad Joke Friday. I'm the first from accomplished author, James McQuiggan at 35,000 feet. He texts me one of one type dad jokes to my phone. I don't look at them until the mid-roll, and then you and I together consume them while you watch me react in real time. Typically, that's more fun than the joke, although the jokes are good, so that should just indicate how fun that segment is. Now, we are gonna go through the stories for an hour. A lot of learning. I've got 20 years of experience, lots of degrees. I would argue if I had to. I don't do this because it's arrogant, but if I had to argue, if someone wanted to push back on me, I am qualified as a cybersecurity industry expert. I do know what I'm talking about, surprise. So that means I can run this threat briefing and have it qualify as educational. So every episode is therefore worth CPEs, and you should be able to get them without having to pay an admission fee to it. So for a half a CPE per episode, one hour is one CPE, but we goof around, we have some fun for half the show. So no one can fight us. We just say half a CPE. Trust me, it's worth. It's easy. You get 120 a year. You really only need about 40 a year, so there's no reason to fight it. Go to cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io/cpe.
There's links in the description below if you're watching on replay or listening on your audio podcast app choice. You'll see a form here, very simple. It has today's date, whatever today's date is, that's the day. So today is July 31st. You can see, it says July 31st. Tomorrow, it'll say August 1st, episode 1186 Yes, for those who are first timers or new here, I have done this show 1,000 times in a row, which is insane to me, but it's awesome at the same time. All you do is put in your name, your email address so I can email you your form, hit a couple of checks boxes. And tomorrow, because it's the first of the month, on the first of the month, every month, I will send you an email cataloging all the CPEs that you earned, and a great little official looking certificate of attendance with my name and all that stuff on it. So that's what's up. Steve Young, you stopped Steve Young.
Steve Young says I'm qualified as an influencer. Steve, Steve's having fun.
All right, yo, so check it out.
If you're here for the first time, drop a hashtag first timer in chat. Hashtag first timer in chat.
If you're a first timer, we love welcoming you. Damn, I'm old. Four years, DJ B-Sec. Good to see you as always, DJ B-Sec. Long time mod of the community and just everybody knows DJ B-Sec. He's helped many of us along our careers and he's just good times, good spirit. I actually had the opportunity to have tacos, literal tacos, not just proverbial tacos with DJ B-Sec just last week, which was really good times. So if you're here for the first time, say hashtag first timer in chat and we will get our John McLean emotes on you. You may notice if you're here live with us in chat, a pinned comment, if you're watching on replay or listening on audio podcast, have a choice. I just want to remind everybody that the Simply Cyber shop has a brand, we have a brand new grand opening shop, all high-end merch in the shop. If you're interested, you don't need to consume or purchase anything in order to be part of this community. This community is inclusive regardless of any finances. But if you wanted to rep, we have an entire shop and we've been doing a grand opening all week, which is a long way for me to get to the point that if you would like an opportunity to win $100 gift card to the shop, I've given out $400 already this week, actually $500 because Zmyf, Zack, who was the Simply Cyber Community member of the week this week, opted for a gift card to this shop instead of the Amazon gift card, which is phenomenal. So drop a Team SC in chat. You can see I have it up here. There is no hiding or whatever. I'm very transparent about it. So if you drop a Team SC, Owinga, Viking087 and Joseph Gambleary have all done that already. You can enter to win.
