Good morning, everybody. Welcome to the party. It is Thursday, technically fake Friday, July 2nd, 2026 This is Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief Podcast. I'm your host, two thumbs, Dr. Gerald Auger, coming to you live from the Mobile Suite up in New England. If you're looking to stay current on the top cyber news stories of the day while being entertained, educated, and hanging out with like-minded professionals that are absolutely all about good times, well, then you're in the right place. Get a cup of coffee, get comfortable. We got a great show for you. And bonus, at the top of the hour, when we roll over, there is an Easter egg hidden show. We've got a panel of seasoned cyber professionals. We're going to answer any and every question that you have today. Let's go. This is Daily Cyber Threat Brief.
All right, hey, what's up, everyone? I hope you are having a great week. For many of us, it's a getaway Thursday, sneaking out the side door, but when the boss isn't looking, I'm pretty pumped. As soon as the show's over, myself, I'm gonna be loading the kids up in the family truckster and heading on over to the other side of the state, where my family resides, where we do a big Fourth of July thing here in the US. Whatever your own traditions are, I hope you guys are safe and have a wonderful time this weekend. But first, we've got work to do. So what is Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief? Well, over the next hour, we're gonna go through the top cyber stories of the day, and I'll be breaking down each of those. Now, of course, you'll be given the top headline and a little briefer on what that is. And you can get that from a RSS feeder or watching the daily news or whatever. But what we do here that takes you to the next level, ratchets it up to 11 if you're into spinal tap, is I take my 20-plus years of experience, I rip open the top, I dive deep in, and I give you additional insights that you will not get anywhere else. Plus, sometimes I arguably come up with ridiculous metaphors that seem to make sense in the moment. I have a pension for infographics, and we have a soundboard that makes it all tie together, and it's all about good times. So if you're into leveling up like an absolute boss, being the CEO of you, and shortcutting a satisfying cyber career, well then, you are in the right place. Many regular Simply Cyber community members who show up on the reg are here. Great to see you, Steve Young. Sierra Montgomery getting up early on the left coast. Ad Tech team solo. Sean Saylor is a recent Simply Cyber community member of the week. Of course, Mara Levy, who has just featured on Authentically Cyber and how she socializes at events. Marcus Kyler in the great state of Michigan. And Tech Grunt with the support across the ages. If you need a hype man, Tech Grunt is your guy. Guys, we got some great people in the chat. Do say hello, whether you're a first-timer or a long-timer. Do say hello. It is all about networking and relationship building in 2026 Now, speaking of relationship building, I would love to help you build those relationships. We've got Jenny Housley, we've got a mod in the chat. Everybody be cool. We've got Ban Hammers running around.
I'm just kidding. Honestly, though, for real, the Simply Cyber Discord server is an amazing safe place to engage and socialize with other people. And the reason I bring it up is because all the mods on the Discord server, and you can go to simplycyber.io/discord to get to it, but all the mods on the Discord server have the ability to ban anyone. And it's almost become a bit of a game where, like, if someone violates a rule, we get made aware of it. And it's like the first one to get there wins. Jenny Housley, I don't know if Jenny Housley is just like, she's like, like making dinner or she's like watching TV, and she's just got one hand on the phone, and she's like, boom, boom! She is a ban hammer master. So shout out to Jenny Housley for keeping the Discord server safe and clean and a good space for everybody. Now, hey, like seriously, though, you are here for the first time. You're like, wow, this guy's got a lot of energy, cool lights, good vibes, cool music, but I'm not sure if I can handle this guy. Well, let me help you help yourself get into this community and figure out what it's all about. Say hashtag first timer and Jack, give a shout out, let us know you're here for the first time. We love welcoming our first timers. It's not just something stupid we say to like, you know, run the numbers or pump the stock or whatever the kids say nowadays. We literally mean it. We want to meet you. Excuse me, we want to meet you. We have a special sound effect, a special emote. Literally everybody in the chat right here, Marcus Kyler, TJ, Steve Young, Ad Tech, me. We were all a first timer at some point. And I'm telling you, it is worth it. It's worth your time. Echo 7 Brave Actual fourth timer will allow it. Welcome to the Party Town. Welcome to the Party Town. We'll call him a first timer for the week. Love it, love it, love it. So let us know you're a first timer. I will welcome you. You'll see the John McLean emotes from the movie Die Hard. You'll hear the sound effect. It's all about good times here. Now, the value train keeps on coming. And you're like, Jesus, man, this guy's got a lot going on. Yeah. Well, you know what? That's what we're up to. I'm a live wire and I'm trying to do the things. Every single episode of the Daily Cyber Threat Brief is worth half a CPE. Now, many of you, looking at you, many of you received your email yesterday that I manually ran. I'm still working through the bugs, if you will, with the CPE program. So because I only do it once a month, I found a bunch of bugs yesterday. So you got an email from me. I was running it. Anyways, all your CPEs for the month of June have been delivered. We're on to July. How do you get on that? Let me tell you. Go to cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io/cpe.
