All right, what's up, everybody? Welcome to the party. Today is, what is today? Hold on, what is this? Today is Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 If you're looking to stay current on the top cyber news, you have come to the right place, my friends. Welcome to Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief Podcast. I am your host. As always, Dr. Gerald Auger coming to you live from the Buffer Auger Flow Studio. I got a full cup of coffee. I had a steam and I am ready to rip the lid off the top news. I hope you are too. Get comfortable. We're about to rip it up.
All right, what's up, everybody? Good morning. I hope you had a lovely Monday and ready for your Tuesday. I personally, Mondays is reserved as Costco Day. I like my wife, who is very awesome, is willing to endure me and understand that I will only go to Costco on Mondays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. I'm not, it's not that I'm the lunatic. It's just that's the most optimal time to go, obviously. So it is what it is. If you're a regular of the show, you know, that was a tidbits Tuesday I gave about two years ago. We've got tidbits Tuesday today where I'll share a little bit about myself. But anyways, yes, Costco run, all about good times. Guys, over the next hour, you are going to be delighted to the top eight cyber stories in our industry. And I will give you the headline and the surface level story. Then we'll put on our snorkel gear and dive deep into the abyss, going beyond the stories headlines to give you insights and value that you're just not going to get in a classroom, a textbook or anywhere else. That's what makes Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief unique unto itself. I do have 20 plus years of experience. I love cyber security. I love helping people. And I love this community. You mix all that up in a big mixing bowl. And you know what? You throw it in the oven, 350 degrees for 45 minutes, boom, you pop out a cake that is delicious. And all about good times. Oh yes, thank you, Dan Reardon. I should have known, I should have known, I should have known, haircut fish. Oh, there we go. So, and I did have a hot dog last night, so come on at me. Okay, meanwhile, you can, it can barely read it in the text on the picture right at the top. It says, meanwhile, it's 6.15 on a Monday. This is true. Listen, you know what? You know what it is? It's called consistency. It's all about consistency. All right, guys, hey, you know, every episode of the Daily Cyber Threat Brief, in addition to it being awesome and value and just good times, it's also worth half a CPE. So if you go to the podcast's official website, cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io, and you look across the top, it says CPE. That's Continuing Professional Education. Some organizations call it CEUs, Continue Education Units, but we call it CPEs here. You scroll down, you see today's show, July 21st, episode 1178
Ad Tech, Costco is always busy. It's just least busy on Monday afternoons. So full name, your name, right? Gerald Auger, email address, geraldaugeratexample.com. Two checkboxes hit the button. Do it once a day when you're here with us. If you're listening, Quinn, if you're listening on Apple Podcast, cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io.
Nick, in Georgia, if you're listening on Spotify, cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io. If you're watching on replay, there's a link in the description below. Get your CPEs, guys. If you're going to listen to the show, why not get the value of the CPEs? I'll email you on the first of the month, every month for the previous month's CPEs, right? So July's CPEs will come out on August 1st. PirateKitty7130, PirateKitty is a recent first timer, but now I'm going to argue for the camp that says, PirateKitty is a long timer.
There we go. Get our sound effects. Speaking of PirateKitty and others, if you are here for the first time, what's up, my friend? Welcome to the party.
Welcome to the party, pal. I would love to welcome you personally. Welcome. I hope you, I don't know how you found us, whether you just looked interesting and you clicked on it, or a friend told you, or whatever. But if you're here for the first time, drop a hashtag first timer in the chat. Drop a hashtag first timer in the comments. If you're listening on Spotify or Apple Podcast, and you got a second, swing over to YouTube and find an episode and drop a hashtag first timer. I can't with that. I can't with that. My chat's killing me, bro. I got to click out of my chat. Dan Reardon has busted me. Like I said, every single day has a special segment, and Tuesday is Tidbits Tuesday, where we share a little bit about ourselves. I share some with me and see if we can vibe on it. Oh, I've got a great one for today. My buddy Dave Gordon turned me on to this thing, and it's not for everybody, but I think you'll enjoy it. All right? So stay tuned for that, especially if you like sports and you're a nerd. Sports and nerd, we'll check the box. Now this show, this show, this stream deck, this OBS change in the pictures. Oh, by the way, look right here. You see this? This is my laptop at my work desk. Those are different mice.
