There are some problems here, sorry, big time.
SPEAKER_2 (0:02)
I'm so upset, my God.
Cenk Uygur (0:13)
Well, The Young Turks, I'm your host, Cenk Uygur there, and she's your host, Ana Kasparian, you crazy, we're back.
Ana Kasparian (0:19)
I'm so excited, I feel so relaxed, Cenk, I feel so relaxed.
SPEAKER_2 (0:23)
Okay, good, good, good, I love it when we're together.
Cenk Uygur (0:26)
All right, so big stories ahead, fun ahead, disaster ahead, everything's ahead, you crazy? All right, so some of the things we're going to talk about.
SPEAKER_2 (0:36)
What's that?
Ana Kasparian (0:37)
Not so relaxed anymore, thanks.
Cenk Uygur (0:41)
All right, so Iran war disaster, gas prices disaster, all other prices, disaster economy, disaster, and then. But Trump, also a disaster, Republican midterm election chances, also a disaster.
Republicans beginning to turn on Trump, I don't mean- Beginning. I don't mean like the Tucker Carlson's blah, blah, blah. I mean, no, like the Republicans in Congress doing ads saying, I disagree with Trump, previously unimaginable. So that's now happening. And Trump, of course, makes it worse by threatening even more war and declaring his love for AI data centers. So lots to get to on today's show. Kaspar, are you ready?
Ana Kasparian (1:24)
I'm so ready, but just to not promise something that we won't be able to deliver today. The AI data center story will likely be in the rundown tomorrow, didn't make it in the show today.
Cenk Uygur (1:34)
Right, right, right, sorry. Yeah. That's because it got knocked out by Hasan saying other crazy things. Okay, so-
Ana Kasparian (1:43)
Hasan does say a lot of crazy things. But in this case, I'm not so sure. So we'll show the audience and you guys can judge for yourselves. Yeah.
Cenk Uygur (1:50)
So we're at a, we'll see, we'll see, we'll see, that's a little bit later in the program. All right, let's get started.
SPEAKER_5 (1:58)
It's gonna end soon, but because they can't go on, they can't go on, their nation is destroyed. But I have to say, you have a little higher, you have a higher, it's a very inexpensive price to pay for what we've done. Remember that it's a little more, it's even if it was frankly, even if it was a lot more.
Cenk Uygur (2:18)
Yeah, the gas price you're paying, it's a little more but a small price to pay for Trump, that you pay that bill, for Israel, for you to pay that bill. And maybe if you made $1.4 billion off of corruption last year, you'd think it was a small price too, but it isn't. So in this story, we're going to give you a shocking fact that you will tell your friends. And we're also gonna show you how Donald Trump made things even worse for gas prices today.
For all of that, Ana Kasparian.
Ana Kasparian (2:49)
Well, Cenk, things are bad already as it pertains to the cost of diesel and the cost of unleaded gasoline.
And it's gonna get a lot worse. So let's talk about where we are at this current moment. Diesel, which has a big influence on trucking and retail prices has continued to hit records with a national average at $6.40 on Thursday. In California, diesel is averaging $8.35. And that is the result of the state's gas tax, but also the fact that we did away with refining in our state in the name of clean energy. So didn't work out so well for us at this current moment. But nonetheless, battleground states in the Midwest have actually seen prices jump as much as 25 cents per gallon.
Overnight, okay? So the price for a gallon of regular spiked 25 cents between Wednesday and Thursday in Iowa, according to AAA. In Wisconsin, it was up 23 cents, in Michigan, it was up 22 cents. So congrats, America, we're already facing severe shortages in some parts of the country, especially when it comes to diesel. So this was something that was brought to my attention yesterday, and it seems like the situation is getting worse. So take a look at this. US stations are running out of diesel. Stations in North Texas are now posting out on their diesel signs. And an Orlando, Florida station has blanked its diesel price to $0 with the pump dry today.
So California stations already began posting out of diesel signs prior to this, but now it's kind of spreading all across the country. Now the national average price for regular gasoline stations stood at $4.44 on Thursday, according to Triple A, with a range of $6.09 in California to $3.92 in Indiana. And already American motorists have paid this. I just want you guys to sit with this for a minute, okay? I really want to emphasize this, okay? And as I read this to you, remember, this is for Israel. We're doing this for Israel.
