The Hammer and Nigel presents, Is, anything, anything.
SPEAKER_2 (0:06)
It depends upon what the meaning of the word is.
Chris Hammer (0:09)
Yes.
Brian Alvey (0:11)
Is this anything?
SPEAKER_1 (0:13)
All right, let's rock and roll.
SPEAKER_2 (0:15)
Brought to you by Indiana Unclaimed, a program presented by the Attorney General's Office here in Indiana. Todd Rakita, the Attorney General of Indiana, in his office reuniting Hoosiers with over $1 million in unclaimed property every single week. It's fast, it's easy, and it's free to search right now at indianunclaimed.gov.
Brian Alvey and Chris Hammer are filling in for Big Nige. I'm going to run these stories by you. Both of you gentlemen, tell me if it's anything or not. Chris, I'm going to start with you on this one.
An AI executive says that many AI researchers are taking up smoking to show how confident they are that AI is going to be able to cure cancer.
Brian Alvey (1:03)
I think there's a profound truth to the Pascal saying that every human has a god-shaped hole in their heart. Many of these folks in Silicon Valley who are building this technology have filled that hole with the machine god of AGI. So many AI researchers have started smoking as a way of signaling to other researchers how much they believe in AI. What? That makes no sense. I believe so much in AI that it's going to cure cancer.
SPEAKER_2 (1:28)
So, Chris, I'll go to you. One, is that anything? And two, is smoking making a comeback? You're in a different age group than Brian and I. We grew up in the era where there was this war on smoking. You were a pariah if you smoked a cig. Are cigs coming back?
Chris Hammer (1:46)
Yeah, I believe they are, especially for my friends that go down to IU. Cigs, obviously a big thing with Cignetti down there. But to answer the question of...
SPEAKER_2 (1:53)
Are they really smoking because of Cignetti?
Chris Hammer (1:56)
I've seen some.
Brian Alvey (1:57)
Yes, that is the reason. That is the reason, yes.
Chris Hammer (2:00)
But to answer the question here, I think this is something and I think it's something because really you're saying that you're picking up smoking because you're so confident or is it because of how much you've been working? Is this really what you're doing? But also, if it is true, I kind of respect it. If you're going to have a product here, they're standing by it. They're saying that, hey, I believe in this. I'm betting on myself. So you know what?
They're real confident in themselves. I'll give them that.
SPEAKER_1 (2:25)
Brian, whoo, I, you know, first off, I believe the guy that said it believed it because that's the world we live in.
SPEAKER_2 (2:33)
I think he was smoking already and just used that as the crutch.
SPEAKER_1 (2:37)
Exactly. You got to go to Michigan, Illinois for you know what? But is it is an avid cigar smoker who's not a cigarette smoker and never has been, never tried it? They're two different things. I I'm inclined because I have no faith in humanity anymore that it is that is a real thing.
SPEAKER_2 (2:56)
All right, Brian, I'm going to run this one by you. A woman's going viral on social media for sharing her story of being stood up and asking for the dating app Bumble to cover the one hundred dollars she lost going on the date that she was ultimately stood up on.
She wants to be reimbursed for the two Ubers in the drink she had waiting for the date. She says they owe her for quote having trash men on their app.
SPEAKER_5 (3:24)
Well, guys, this might be a first. I might be getting stood up. 930
Clearly was lying. Oh, and the fact that I ordered a shrimp cocktail and a drink. And I'm going to have to pay for that myself for nothing for me to sit here. Oh, my God, you guys, I just tried to call him to let him know like, hey, I'm leaving. It went straight to voicemail.
Wow. I just got stood up. You guys, I need a break. I need a break from dating. It's too much. My heart can't handle it.
SPEAKER_1 (3:53)
Brian, so I'm going to hazard a guess that he was a block away, right?
Somebody peeked in the door, saw who he was looking at, didn't match the photo on her little bubble account. She catfished the hell out of him with her AI. Photoshop, whatever, glamour shots. I know I just dated myself with that thing. Photos that look nothing like her. And he said, Peace and bacon grease. I'm out. Pay your own tab. Be honest.
