The Hammer and Nigel presents...

Nigel (0:06)

It depends upon what the meaning of the word is.

Allison (0:09)

Yes.

Hammer (0:11)

Is this anything? All right, let's rock and roll. And we're brought to you by Indiana Unclaimed Hammer, a program presented by the Attorney General's Office here in Indiana, reuniting Hoosiers with over $1 million in unclaimed property every single week, which is fantastic, easy and free to search at indianaunclaimed.gov.

Nigel (0:31)

Allison, we missed you in the hot tub on Friday. The last time we played this game, I was sitting in a hot tub with Nigel.

Hammer (0:38)

Right.

Nigel (0:38)

The amount of listeners that came by and said, where's Allison? We'd rather have Allison in here. Why isn't she in the water?

Allison (0:46)

I was terrified for you guys because you both have live mics in bubbling water. I was shocked literally that you guys weren't shocked.

Hammer (0:55)

We were advised it was set up in such a way where that was impossible.

Allison (1:01)

I will say no one can doubt your dedication. That is for sure.

Nigel (1:06)

That was fun. It was.

Hammer (1:08)

It's our boss, David. I walked past his office. He's like, oh, hey, Nigel, by the way, glad to see you took your swim shirt off Friday.

Allison (1:19)

We're all very proud.

Nigel (1:20)

That kind of made you the people's champion because you're ultimate dad, right? Like you are swim shirt in the pool kind of guy.

Allison (1:28)

Sure, sure.

Nigel (1:29)

And we were kind of giving you a crap for it. And then lo and behold, I think the peer pressure from me led you to take it off.

Hammer (1:39)

That's exactly what it was. I looked at you and I said, oh, I look better than this guy.

Nigel (1:45)

Right.

It's the Florida rule. There's always somebody worse, somebody fatter. So go ahead and take your shirt off. You're going to be fine.

Is this anything? A National Anthem performer had his trumpet stop working mid performance at the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game. Dr. Jesse McGuire attempted to fix his trumpet live and it didn't work. So then he just said, screw it. Grabbed the mic and started singing.

Hammer (2:47)

It's an occult song to sing publicly on the face of this earth, I think.

Nigel (2:52)

It's a hard song.

Hammer (2:54)

There's been so many screw ups. We could do an entire show of people doing it at the Super Bowl, at baseball games, at football games. Christina Aguilera, for God's sake, didn't she screw it up at the Super Bowl?

Nigel (3:07)

She screwed it up at the Super Bowl.

Hammer (3:09)

I mean, she's the consummate professional and she screwed it up. So this guy, you know, no fault of his own. It sounds like his instrument messed up, and he had the voice to back it up.

Nigel (3:23)

See, that's the thing.

Hammer (3:24)

This is something for sure.

Nigel (3:25)

And again, if you're watching on the YouTube stream, we do have the beautiful Allison's face now on the dedicated camera.

Allison (3:31)

Hi, Allison.

Nigel (3:32)

Allison, back me up here.

That was great because, like Nigel said, he's got the voice to bail himself out. But what if he sounded like me? What if he sounded like Bobcat Goldthway?

Allison (3:43)

Roseanne, Paul Roseanne?

Hammer (3:45)

He's ultra talented at the trumpet, but sucks at singing.

Nigel (3:49)

Right, right.

Like maybe he's the world's best trumpet player, and then he sounds like Frank Drebin. Da da da da da.

Hammer (3:59)

Bunch of bombs in the air.

Nigel (4:02)

Would the crowd have rallied behind him the way they did?

Hammer (4:05)

Oh, I would have.

Nigel (4:06)

I think so.

Allison (4:07)

I think so because that takes some guts to be like, OK, screw it, I'm going to still continue anyway. And he got all the words right.

Hammer (4:15)

And then by that time, yeah, he got the words right. And if he didn't sound good, I think the crowd would have backed him up.

Allison (4:22)

I think so. Yeah. Yeah.

Nigel (4:24)

Remember the one of the American Pie spinoff movies where Jason Biggs character jumps up in front of a crowd and tries to play the trumpet, and he's awful at it, but they think he's special needs and everybody's like, come on, cheer him on, everybody.

Allison (4:41)

Yeah.

Nigel (4:42)

Like that's how crowds are. If you're just trying, they'll cheer you on.

Allison (4:46)

And that's America, baby.

Nigel (4:48)

That is. That's the America that I live in. It's The Hammer and Nigel Show.
