Hi, this is Perry, and you're listening to The Beauty Brains, where real scientists answer your beauty questions for Tuesday, December 31st, 2013 I'm your host, Perry Romanoski, and with me, as always...
Randy Schuller (0:24)
Randy Schuller. Yeah, hello, everybody, and happy pre-New Year.
Perry Romanoski (0:29)
That's right, this is the last day of 2013
Randy Schuller (0:33)
Yeah, you know, we gotta talk to somebody in the home office. Why do we keep scheduling our podcast episodes on the holiday eve? You know, we had our Christmas Eve show on Christmas Eve.
It just makes us, you know, we're working too hard on the holiday. Come on.
Perry Romanoski (0:48)
We really are, but, you know, I bet no one else is doing it, so that makes us special.
Besides, it's Tuesday. Next year, every Tuesday show won't be on the holidays on Tuesday, right?
Randy Schuller (1:01)
That's a good point. You know, unless the network changes our broadcast night, that could always happen.
Perry Romanoski (1:06)
That could happen.
Randy Schuller (1:09)
You know, last week, at the Beauty Brains office Christmas party, which we missed you at very much by the way.
Perry Romanoski (1:16)
Well, you know.
Randy Schuller (1:18)
But, you know, I know you were busy.
Perry Romanoski (1:20)
Well, yeah, I have a lot of family obligations. There's like 2,000 of us in our family.
Randy Schuller (1:27)
That's got to suck when it comes to sending our cards.
Perry Romanoski (1:30)
At least you're never lonely.
Randy Schuller (1:33)
So anyway, at the party, somebody, I won't mention who, approached me and said that maybe you were not a big fan of the new tagline that I came up with for last week's show. You remember, you know, at the end of this show, I have a new catchphrase that I ended the show with, and I said, Remember, be brainy about your beauty.
And I heard through the grapevine, maybe you didn't think that was appropriate for the show. So I want to ask you about that.
Perry Romanoski (2:01)
You know, it's really weird. I didn't know there was such office gossip going.
Randy Schuller (2:06)
Oh, you'd be surprised what I heard this year.
Perry Romanoski (2:09)
You know, sometimes I have a few eggnogs, and my brain gets a little leaky, and my mouth gets a little chatty.
Randy Schuller (2:14)
That happens to all of us.
Perry Romanoski (2:17)
But, you know, I think it's important to have a tagline at the end of the show. And, you know, like, for example, on another show I do, I always go with, go make a difference.
Randy Schuller (2:29)
Wait a minute, you have another show? You're cheating on me?
Perry Romanoski (2:34)
The Chemist Corner Podcast. It's for a different audience, you know, for people who formulate, but if you're interested, chemistcorner.com.
Randy Schuller (2:42)
We should certainly make a plug for that. Absolutely. No shame there. Right. So you, yeah, you end every single episode with go make a difference, which I think is, you know, kind of an inspiring send-off, you know, for your audience to hear.
I listened to a comic book podcast. It's called The Comic Geek Speak.
And their tagline is, they are changing the world one listener at a time. I'm not sure that's a great tagline, but they have a consistent tagline. I know I'm going to hear that at the end of every episode.
Perry Romanoski (3:15)
Well, yeah, that's very cool. Speaking about the change, you know, there was another podcast I listened to where it's about creativity and things, but his tagline is, cover bands don't change the world.
Make your own music.
Randy Schuller (3:32)
It's a little quirky, but I like it.
Perry Romanoski (3:36)
You know where all this tagline stuff comes from, though. Remember when we were working together? Remember I always had a tagline when I left a room?
Randy Schuller (3:44)
Sure, like at the end of a meeting?
Perry Romanoski (3:47)
Just whenever I left a room, I'd say to people, thanks for stopping by.
Randy Schuller (3:54)
I was thinking, though, of your end-of-meeting tagline, which was, thanks, everybody.
Perry Romanoski (3:59)
Yeah, that is right. That's nice of it. Which, incidentally, I just saw the movie Anchorman, the first one, and their tagline at the end of the news broadcast was, thanks for stopping by.
Randy Schuller (4:16)
Oh, I didn't realize that. I mean, I saw that movie ten years ago when it came out.
Perry Romanoski (4:21)
But, you know, I was used to thanks for stopping by even if I was leaving the room.
Randy Schuller (4:25)
Right, right. That's the irony.
