Chronic migraine is 15 or more headache days a month, each lasting four hours or more.

Botox, on a botulinum toxin A, prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine before they start. It's not for those with 14 or fewer headache days a month. It prevents on average eight to nine headache days a month versus six to seven for placebo.

Prescription Botox is injected by your doctor. Effects of Botox may spread hours to weeks after injection causing serious symptoms. Alert your doctor right away as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye problems, or muscle weakness can be signs of a life-threatening condition. Patients with these conditions before injection are at highest risk. Side effects may include allergic reactions, neck and injection site pain, fatigue, and headache. Allergic reactions can include rash, welts, asthma symptoms, and dizziness. Don't receive Botox if there's a skin infection. Tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions including ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eton syndrome, and medications including botulinum toxins as these may increase the risk of serious side effects.

Is it good to have aches and pains after doing sport?

Thanks for asking.

Muscle pain generally occurs after an intense sport session. They are due either to unusual muscular work or to an increase in the intensity of a workout, or to the resumption of a sporting activity after a break, according to sports coach William Chanconie. In fact, muscle soreness results from micro lesions in the muscle fibres and signals that the muscle has been damaged.

Does this mean that the sport session was effective? No, not really. When you feel pain going up the stairs after a long session at the gym, it's simply a sign that you've worked muscles that were weak to begin with, underused or that you've done a poor job. According to William Chanconie, the absence of pain is a sign of a good training session. Systematic pain after a workout is not necessarily a good sign. It means that the movements have not been carried out properly. Sore muscles should be kept to a minimum, so that the body has time to heal and recover.

What can you do to avoid them?

There are a few simple tricks you can use to avoid soreness after a workout. The first is to train regularly. Once a month or from time to time just isn't enough and will result in muscle pain. Keep working out regularly to keep your body happy. Next, look after your diet and above all, your hydration. You need protein to repair the muscle and plenty of water. At least 2 litres of water a day on days when you hit the gym. Finally, try to use contrast bath therapy. This is where you alternatively bathe in hot and then cold water which helps to limit muscle soreness, reduce inflammation and keep the blood flowing. What if you still feel sore? In this case, you should rest until the pain disappears so as not to injure yourself further. Pain usually fades within 72 hours, but if it lasts longer than a week, it could be a sign that you've damaged too much muscle tissue. Best to take it easy, take pain medication if needed, and if you're worried, seek medical advice. There you have it. Now you know if it's good to have aches and pains after doing sport.
