While you've been watching Bitcoin Price Predictions and Quantum Computing FUD, something insane was just revealed on CNBC. 40 countries are now officially committed to buying massive amounts of Bitcoin.
While the Bitcoin is over, crowd is getting louder, the real story is happening behind the scenes.

So in terms of everyone has to develop their own risk tolerance, but in terms of folks who are looking for conviction, again, I'll quote Jeremy.
One of my favorites, he says, is the point here is that there's nothing wrong with waiting. Now, in terms of catalysts, you've had me on a couple of times, I don't tell people what to buy, I don't tell them when to buy it. We are, what's exciting, so most people are looking at, say, the Clarity Act passing as a central catalyst. I have the luxury of being a coinbase where I'm seeing what I call micro catalysts almost every day, stuff that doesn't really make the front page of the news. But the other day, we just did the first stable coin based payment for independent journalists to condense the time they take to receive money from their advertisements from 90 days to one day.
We've seen things like Scott Sornetta, who was on your show, using blockchain and cryptocurrency to solve the problem of deepfakes of the artificial intelligence. We've seen over 40 countries commit to buying Bitcoin in some fashion for their national balance sheets or other. So I'm seeing every day a deluge of new institutional investors that are interested in the asset class. So I appreciate for folks who don't have that perspective, they're looking for some grand gesture or grand event. But for those of us who have the luxury of being on the inside, all we're seeing is steady growth, even if the headlines don't match that.
**Opti** (1:50)
Okay, guys. So to be fair, like two of those micro, what do you say, micro reasons for Bitcoin to be bullish on Bitcoin, I couldn't explain them if I tried. Something about using block, like, I don't know, I don't know, that's who cares about that stuff, right? Obviously, we've been talking about the Clarity Act for a while. At this point, it keeps getting punted. We'll see if it even happens. That's kind of where I stand.
But the big reveal there was 40 countries are now, at least from the insiders at Coinbase, saying they are buying Bitcoin. And we've heard a bunch of sovereign wealth funds. We know for a fact that there are currently countries that one, hold Bitcoin, and two, potentially buying Bitcoin. We obviously heard the Strait of Hormuz and Iran wanting Bitcoin, which I just saw an update this morning. Apparently, there's now a bigger contention on whether the Strait of Hormuz fees will be secured or not. In the sense of the US wants the IRGC to basically, they're gonna release funds so that they don't have to take the fees for the Hormuz passage. And they're like, no, no, we want to get paid for ships to go through. So it seems like the fees that were gonna potentially be paid in Bitcoin are still holding through. So one of the big, big stories for this bear market has been that Bitcoin has entered the macro conversation. And of course, this all was kicked off from when Donald Trump came out and said, hey, we are gonna be the Bitcoin superpower of the world. Now, every other country had to take at the very least that threat or that rhetorical tool as serious.
And here we are now, we are on the verge of seeing 40 countries potentially buying massive amounts of Bitcoin. Now, he said committed to buying Bitcoin. So we don't know the timeline. We don't know how much. But in context of what we already know of all of the countries that have bought Bitcoin, or rather that are owning Bitcoin, I'm going over to the bitcointreasuries.com, or.net, sorry, on the government tab. You can see here, they have 15 countries listed, right? But if you look a little closer at the very bottom, there is Roswell, New Mexico, which isn't a country. So, you know, the aliens at Area 51 owns some Bitcoin, but Bulgaria and Germany, yeah, Bulgaria and Germany, they sold out. The infamous Germany selling their Bitcoin, which now is almost looking like a good move, considering that the price is back to where they sold. Actually, I think it's below where they sold Bitcoin.
**Nico** (4:33)
So this is what we get for dunking on Germany. Germany right now looks like a genius level trader. Yeah, seriously, seriously. All right.
**Opti** (4:42)
Anyways, but so, in terms of how many countries have, you know, handled Bitcoin in the past, whether that was not selling their Bitcoin stash, or as we saw a couple selling their Bitcoin stash, we would go with around 14 countries right now. So if 40 countries come on board, that's about a 25X or something like that of new countries that are now stacking Bitcoin. So it'll go from 14 to 54 countries. Now, if you dwindle out the countries that haven't bought Bitcoin or rather have sold Bitcoin, that would be about a 3X. It would go from what is this 12 to 52 countries. So maybe it's not all 192 countries of the world yet are buying Bitcoin or storing Bitcoin or have plans to get into Bitcoin, but so far that would be anywhere from a 2 to 3X of nation state adoption of Bitcoin, which I would argue is a pretty big jump here. Now, that also doesn't even account for the sovereign wealth funds that we know that are holding Bitcoin and the sovereign wealth funds that are coming online pretty soon. There's been a lot of rumors of that happening, which we might cover in a little bit.
