Igor Shesterkin's Season Cut Short by Injury | New York Rangers News

Today is October 10th. Okay, so the Rangers just hit a rough patch. Igor Shesterkin, one of the best goalies in the NHL, is out for the rest of the season with a lower body injury. That's a huge loss for the team and definitely a crushing blow.

It went down during a game against the Capitals.

Shesterkin jammed his skate into the goal post while trying to scramble back, and it didn't end well. He fell awkwardly and couldn't put weight on his leg. You can feel the weight of that moment for the team. Dylan Garand is now stepping up as the number 6 and the number 6, one goalie, and he's got just 4 NHL starts under his belt. Not a lot of experience there. Meanwhile, veteran goalie Joonas Korpisalo is also sidelined with a lower body injury. It's a tough situation, no doubt. The team's alternate captains, Adam Fox and Mika Zibanejad, are expressing support for Garand and staying confident. They're focused on moving forward and not letting this derail their season. And, honestly, that mentality is crucial right now.

Head coach Mike Sullivan isn't looking to make any trades to grab a new goalie. He believes in his current roster and thinks they can pull through. It'll be interesting to see how they adapt and keep pushing without their star goaltender. I'm Corey with the story.
