Today is October 9th. All right, so the New York Rangers are rolling into a matchup against the Washington Capitals with some solid momentum. They've got a four game winning streak on the line, and they're hoping to keep that going in DC.

Now, the big news today is that head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed Igor Shesterkin will be starting in goal. This marks his fifth appearance, and he's been really impressive so far. He hasn't allowed more than two goals in any game, and with a record of three wins and one loss, he's leading the league in starts and wins. Shesterkin's track record against the Capitals is pretty strong too. He's got a 10-5 record against them lifetime, along with a good save percentage of .915. That's got to give him some confidence going into this matchup, for sure. As for the team lineup, there wasn't a full morning skate, but about 14 players were on the ice. That included guys like Scott Morrow and JT Miller, along with some others. While regulars like Mika Zabaniad and Adam Fox are out, the Rangers are expected to keep their recent lineup intact, which looks to keep that chemistry going.

So yeah, with Shesterkin in the net and the Rangers holding that winning streak, tonight's game is going to be one to watch as they look to take down the Capitals. Let's see if they can make it five in a row. Stay locked in with New York Rangers News Today, AI powered updates.
