This is Believe, one network, every topic, everywhere.

Okay, our friends. So today we are reading a story for you called If You Come to Earth. And this story was written by Sophie Blackall. And it is designed for a person who has never been to Earth before. Or better yet, what would we say to someone who had never been to Earth, but now had to come here and live? There's a lot of things they would need to know, right? Okay, so If You Come to Earth by Sophie Blackall is read today by Mommy and...

And we're going in. If you would like to support the artists and the authors who write these books and put their love and their heart into them, go and buy the books and follow along with us when we read, because that shows the people who are writing these, taking the time to write them, that you appreciate their work. So I will put a link for this on my Amazon affiliates page, and you can flop on to Amazon and grab copies, or you can just get the title and go to your local bookstore and get one. And it goes like this. Dear visitor from outer space, if you come to Earth, here's what you need to know.

You can find us near our big sun and a tiny moon and a bunch of other planets. Ours is the greeny blue one. And in the picture, we can see our solar system. There's, do you remember what the names of the planets are?

Mercury?

SPEAKER_3 (1:48)

We got them back to the river.

Lisa Bueno (2:00)

Yeah. But there it all is. Green and brown bits are land, and the blue stuff is water. People mostly live on the land. In big cities and small towns or tiny villages or just in the middle of nowhere. And we can see the artist is showing us exactly what the girl looks like. We live in all kinds of homes. And we can see castles and trailers and apartment buildings and brownstones and houses that are in trees and farmhouses and mansions and tiny little shacks and boat houses. And it's just so many different kinds of houses. You'll never imagine them all. In fact, there's even a group of people who are standing here and they say, we lost our house. It's in a fire and in a flood and in a war.

And in all kinds of families. Oh, grandparents and aunts and uncles and moms and dads and kids and animals and everybody, all living.

And there are more than 7 billion people on earth.

We all have bodies, but everybody is different. That is true. Except for my friends who are identical twins and they look the same. Except for Mustapha's mole. And in the picture, we can see these two boys, and they do look almost identical in every way, except one boy does have a mole.

SPEAKER_3 (3:36)

Yep. Sound it.

Lisa Bueno (3:38)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_3 (3:38)

Kinda easy.

Lisa Bueno (3:39)

Yeah. It's on his neck. Inside our heads, we're usually thinking. You can't see our thoughts, but sometimes we show our feelings on our faces.

And in these pictures, sure enough, I could look at each one of these faces and know exactly what they're thinking.

We got a sad person. We got a super upset person. We got a really happy person, and a smiling person, and a silly person, and a surprised, and a skeptical, and a grumpy person. Yeah, there's all kinds of interesting faces.

SPEAKER_3 (4:26)

And this person that's just like...

Lisa Bueno (4:29)

Yeah, who knows what they're thinking. Even if we don't like it, we get dressed every day, and we wear different clothes depending on what we do and where we live, and if it's hot or cold, then we can see people getting dressed. This lady is putting on a wedding dress. Oh, how fancy she is. This gentleman over here, he's got his boots on, and he's got his suspenders he's putting on. He's got a cane. And then there's a little boy up here who's getting a shirt pulled over him by his mama. And there's a guy down here who's wearing an astronaut's outfit.

There's lots of different weather in our world, and some of it's good and some of it's bad. So we see thunderstorms, and we see rain and hail and floods and wind and sunshine and snow and fog, all sorts of different things. Wherever people live, they usually have to go someplace, and there are lots of ways to get there. And there are here, we see boats, a wide variety of different boats. We see airplanes and even hotter balloons and helicopters, and trains and cars and semi trucks and trash trucks and ice cream trucks and fire trucks and limousines and race cars and old fashioned cars and ambulances and police cars and all sorts of different things are going on here on this very busy road. I'm a kid and kids go to school to learn stuff so that we'll know what to do when we're grown up. And this is a school room, we can see all these different kinds of kids and they're all doing different things.
