Austin Hull was one of our most popular interviews (way back on episode 59), so we had to bring him back onto the podcast to update us on what he’s been up to.

This is the 6 Figure Creative Podcast, Episode 164

Welcome to the 6 Figure Creative Podcast, where our mission is to help you turn your creative passions into a stable, reliable income. If you're in audio, video, design, photography, or really any other creative field, and you just want to learn from other successful creatives, you're in the right place. Welcome back to another episode of the 6 Figure Creative Podcast. I'm your host, Brian Hood. I'm here with my big, bald, beautiful purple shirted coat. Actually, what color is that?

Chris (0:31)

It's purple-ish.

Brian Hood (0:33)

It's like a purple hue.

Chris (0:34)

It's a purple hue. It was the purplest shirt that Lululemon had in stock, and I was pretty excited, so I bought it.

Brian Hood (0:41)

Okay, and then I also joined here with our guest, Austin Hull, which we'll get to in a second. Say hi, Austin.

Austin Hull (0:46)

What's up, everyone? How you doing?

Good.

Brian Hood (0:48)

So Chris, I gotta talk real quick. Is it Lululemon or Lululemon?

Austin Hull (0:53)

It's Lululemon.

Chris (0:54)

Lululemon, what kind of a fool would say Lululemon?

Brian Hood (0:58)

Austin, which one is it? I've heard both.

Austin Hull (1:01)

I'm assuming it just goes by whatever tax bracket you're in, if I'm gonna be 100% honest.

Chris (1:06)

That was such a well-placed joke. Oh my gosh, it's like we rehearsed that.

Oh my gosh.

Brian Hood (1:13)

Yeah, some people wanna make it way fancier than it's supposed to be, but it is.

Chris (1:15)

That's like calling Target Tarjay.

Brian Hood (1:17)

Dude, I love calling it Tarjay.

Chris (1:20)

Jaxay Penne, Jacy Penny.

Brian Hood (1:23)

I thought you just had a stroke.

Chris (1:25)

That's what my mom used to call Jacy Penny is Jaxay Penne, but she did it in jest. Good.

But Lulu Liman is, that's ridiculous. Let me share a joke from a comedian whose name I forget, but it's like my favorite joke ever. And he says, if a woman is walking down a dark alley and she notices a man behind her walking in the same direction and he's wearing all Lulu Liman clothing, she can be rest assured that absolutely nothing is getting ready to happen to her.

Brian Hood (1:54)

100%. I've heard that joke, but I was like tensing up the entire time because I'm like, Chris, Chris, no, Chris, don't you do that.

Chris (2:01)

It looks like it's gonna be in bad taste. No, it's in, no, it's like, no, it's a woke joke sort of.

Brian Hood (2:08)

So let's shift away from banter talk. Although I will say that I'm supposed to leave for Spain next week and I'm excited as hell. And I'm just like waiting for the ball to drop to say like, all right, all right, Americans, you can no longer come because Delta variant is so out of control that you're not gonna be able to. So by the time this episode airs, I will either be in Spain or I won't be in Spain.

Probably nowhere in between.

Austin Hull (2:27)

Well, hopefully you get to go to Spain.

Brian Hood (2:29)

Yeah, yeah. So let's stop talking about me and let's talk about our guest. We've got our guest here, Austin Hull, who was on our podcast way back on episode 59, which is almost exactly 100 episodes ago for you on how to build an audio career 100% online from anywhere in the world.

And whether you're in audio or really any sort of freelancing, that episode is highly relevant because he built a Facebook community that basically fed him leads. And he's gonna do so much more, which we're gonna catch up on with you, Austin, on what you've been up to since then. But it's a really cool episode. It's actually one of our most popular episodes.

It may be one of the top episodes that we have, or at least top interviews that we've done, Austin, so kudos to you on that one. That came out around Christmas. So let's catch up for everybody. First of all, you are with Make Pop Music. That's kind of your company. And you also do audio production. So give us kind of a spiel of like what you've been up to since episode 59 on our podcast.

Austin Hull (3:19)

That episode was at a really good time because that was kind of where my business and the production business had kind of been already getting started. But that was where Make Pop Music was really becoming its own standalone business. And I was starting to have to figure out how to divide time between producing and then running a business with my wife.
