This is the Six Figure Home Studio Podcast, Episode 131 You're listening to the Six Figure Home Studio Podcast. The number one resource for running a profitable home recording studio.

Welcome back to another episode of the 6 Figure Home Studio Podcast. I am your host, Brian Hood, and I'm here with a special co-host slash guest, my good friend, Brandon Brown of Media Whisper. Say hi to everyone real quick.

Brandon Brown (0:32)

What's up? Thanks for having me.

Brian Hood (0:33)

Yeah, Brandon Brown is a really good friend of mine. He taught a workshop inside of the Profitable Producer course on social media. And I also think you helped with the Facebook ads thing too.

Brandon Brown (0:43)

It was a couple years ago.

Brian Hood (0:44)

It was a couple years ago, yeah. Anyways, so Brandon has an agency called Media Whisper, and we'll get into what your agency does and what we can take away from it as audio people.

But before we do all that...

Brandon Brown (0:53)

Audio people. I like that.

Brian Hood (0:55)

I just call us audio people. I don't know what that means. But everyone's all over the place when it comes to that. We have people who do voiceover work for commercials and TV and stuff, and audio books. I just don't even know what to call our audience anymore. They've dubbed themselves the 6 Figure Sexies.

Literally, in our Facebook community, that's the going term. I don't know how I feel about it, but...

Brandon, how you been during the quarantine stuff?

Brandon Brown (1:19)

I've been okay. This is the longest I've been in Nashville for any consecutive period of time in years, literally.

Brian Hood (1:26)

Brandon also was my roommate for two years. I forgot to mention that little tidbit. We lived together for a couple of years.

So he travels all the time with... He's in a band called Viridia.

Brandon Brown (1:35)

Yeah, between work, music, fun, then family, the last couple of years, I've averaged 40 to 45% of the year being out of town.

So now it's May already. I've been in town for two months, I guess, and that's extremely bizarre for me. So I'm over it, to be honest. I've been running every other day to stay sane.

Brian Hood (1:56)

Yeah, between you and like one other person, y'all are the only two people, and yes, I did use the word y'all, y'all are the only two people I've seen in person since all of this shit went down like mid-March.

Brandon Brown (2:08)

Yeah, I have a very small number of quarantine buddies that I've seen, but it's not more than once a week that I'll actually directly interact with other people.

Brian Hood (2:17)

Yeah, so people can't see this because we're not on video, but Brandon is in my podcast office right now, and we are the socially distanced, acceptable six feet apart right now.

Brandon Brown (2:25)

Yeah, it might even be a little more than six feet. Yeah, I mean, it's been an interesting time. It was kind of a hard adjustment for me. I had a lot of trips planned that have been canceled or postponed.

Brian Hood (2:36)

Same.

Brandon Brown (2:36)

And our band was supposed to be in Europe on tour right now. That hopefully is just postponed.

Brian Hood (2:42)

Yeah, a lot of our listeners are in touring bands.

They do audio on the side, whether touring or whatever. So a lot of our audience has been hit hard by canceled tours.

Brandon Brown (2:50)

Yeah, man, it sucks from that regard. Especially for us, this was probably going to be one of the biggest tours we'd ever done in some really cool European cities at some amazing venues. And now it's just been here. Picking up my dog's poop around the neighborhood and stuff.

Brian Hood (3:07)

Dude, people, I mean, I don't know if our audience has heard of your band, Veridia. It's like, I don't know what even to call you.

Brandon Brown (3:13)

What genre would you say? Alternative rock show with a female singer.

Brian Hood (3:17)

You peaked in life when this happened. As far as I'm concerned, you played in this 2,000 year old arena in Italy.

It looks almost identical to the Colosseum in Rome, but it's in what city is it?

Brandon Brown (3:30)

Verona.

Brian Hood (3:30)

Verona, and it's kept up in modern terms. They've just renovated it, but the exterior of it looks almost exactly like the Roman Colosseum, and it's badass.

Brandon Brown (3:38)

That's probably the coolest. I mean, I certainly will never forget having the opportunity to play there. It was an amazing show. That's how we kicked off the last European tour. It's the Arena de Verona. It's built in 30 AD while Christ was still alive.
