You're listening to the 6 Figure Home Studio Podcast, the number one resource for running a profitable home recording studio. Now your hosts, Brian Hood and Chris Graham.

Brian Hood (0:19)

Welcome back to another episode of the 6 Figure Home Studio Podcast. I am your host, Brian Hood. I'm with my wonderfully beautiful co-host, Mr. Chris Graham. Chris Graham, Chris Graham, they can't see you today because you are on a podcast, on a podcast, right? This doesn't work for them. You've actually got something new going on today other than your wonderful lighting and your sharp radiant face. What are you doing different than last week?

Chris Graham (0:42)

I have finally taken the jump, and I spent the last week converting the mastering studio to a standing desk setup.

Brian Hood (0:49)

That takes some gall, man. I feel like anyone that's willing to move their entire desk up 6 to 8 or 12 or how many inches it is, that's going to change the sound of your room.

Did it?

Chris Graham (0:59)

It did. It took a lot of tuning. It took a lot of adjustments, but I'm actually in a better spot. I'm happier with how my room sounds now than I was at a sitting desk. But more importantly, I feel better. I've got a lot more energy. I'm just not like a health nut or anything.

My natural inclination is to stand. I tend to be higher energy.

And when I sit, I'm just moping.

I'm pumped about it. I've got this big, huge... It's actually a workbench with a super thick maple top on it that's up to my belly button. And I love it. I'm excited.

Brian Hood (1:31)

That's funny. You say you're energetic when you stand. You guys don't know this, but every week we get on and we sit and we like map out what our episode's gonna be. We have no idea going in, honestly. We just have ideas that have come to us throughout the week. We talk about them until one finally sticks.

We've been at this for 55 minutes today, and we're just now starting the recording process.

I've just been slouching down the entire time. Meanwhile, you're standing there looking energetic and radiant. I'm burning calories. Yeah, you're burning calories. You're working on your core muscles, having some good stability. You should balance yourself on a little balancing beam. You know that little cylinder with the wood plank? It's like a seesaw. And just stand on that and keep your balance and see if you can do it while you build your stabilizer muscles.

Chris Graham (2:12)

I suspect that would have negative consequences on the podcast.

Brian Hood (2:15)

Yeah, that's some actual coordination required. But all that to say, we finally laid out an episode today that we think is gonna be beneficial, and we just said, fuck it, we're just gonna record, we're not gonna map this out at all. We've been going for 55 minutes. If this episode sucks, it's okay. It's not gonna suck though, because this is something that is gonna be affecting most if not all of our listeners today, no matter what level you're at. And the higher level you are as far as your income and experience, the more important this is for you. So for those of you who are already at high five figures, low six figures, income with your studios, and you don't have this yet, this is even more of an important episode to you because this can be a game changer for you. The thing that we're talking about today is building your team. And we don't mean hiring employees. We don't mean going down that rabbit hole yet because that's a whole different conversation and most people aren't ready for that yet.

But what we do mean is building a team of freelancers that your artists can work with. Big picture is what are the things that the people you work with need and why not already have a team prepared that you've already vetted, you've already worked with, you've built trust, you have a referral network going with, that you can then refer your artists to. Every single person you work with, you're referring to people on your team.

And so this conversation gets really interesting because when you send work to people, a lot of times they send work to you. So this is a really good way to essentially trade work. I would hesitate to say, have a specific, like I'll give you 10% of anything I send you, and you give me 10% of anything you send me, and there's this whole money changing hand and things. No, just keep it.
