It's September 28th. Alright, so the New York Rangers are gearing up for the regular season, kicking things off this Tuesday night against the Boston Bruins.

It's going to be a solid matchup with two original six teams facing off, and the Rangers are looking to start strong right out the gate. This summer was busy for them, adding a bunch of new faces to the roster. The goal is to improve compared to last year, and early signs suggest they could contend for a playoff spot.

Even if they still have some kinks to work out, it's clear they've made some upgrades that could really help.

One big focus has been the second pair on defense, and they've made some key moves to boost that area. Marcus Pettersson and Sean Durzi are both set to step in and change the game defensively. Pettersson came over for a future first-round draft pick, while Durzi arrived after they traded Vincent Trocheck, which is a pretty big shakeup. It's worth watching if rookie Alberts Smits can earn a spot on that second pair as the season unfolds. He's got major upside being the fifth overall pick, and if he impresses, we might see him climb the lineup sooner rather than later. So, what was once a weak point for the team could turn into one of their strengths. With these off-season moves, the Rangers are stepping into the season with a lot more potential. It'll be exciting to see how it all plays out starting this week. Team coverage, powered by AI, this is New York Rangers News Today. I'm Corey with the story.
