Today is September 28 Okay, big news for the Rangers heading into the season. Matt Rempe just secured his spot on the opening night roster after a gritty preseason.

This comes after the team placed Taylor Raddysh on waivers, which clears the way for Rempe and Jaroslav Chmelar to make the cut. Rempe is coming off a tough season, only playing 26 games due to surgeries on his left thumb. He really had something to prove during training camp, and it looks like he did just that. No doubt, he was fighting for his spot. During his preseason appearances, he picked up 14 hits, two assists, and two blocked shots. Not a bad performance for a guy who was trying to find his rhythm again.

It's clear he made an impact with those stats. In his last game against the Islanders, Rempe skated on the fourth line with Ty Cardi and Joe Valino. That showed he's back in form, especially after struggling last season.

The coaches really wanted to get him back up to speed for the regular season. So, the Rangers are gearing up for their opener against Austin with Rempe ready to roll. It'll be exciting to see how he contributes this year. He's definitely someone to watch. From your team, powered by AI, this is New York Rangers News Today.
