Market moving insight and analysis. Join Jim Cramer, David Faber and me, Carl Quintanilla on the opening bell hour of CNBC Squawk on the Street. Good Thursday morning. Welcome to Squawk on the Street. I'm Carl Quintanilla with Jim Cramer, David Faber at Post 9 On this historic day at the New York Stock Exchange, in 30 minutes, President-elect Donald Trump will ring the opening bell. It was Ronald Reagan who became the first sitting president to ring the bell nearly 40 years ago.

With tax reform and budget control, our economy will be free to expand to its full potential. Driving the bears back into permanent hibernation, that's our economic program for the next four years, we're going to turn the bull loose.

Carl Quintanilla (1:53)

George W. Bush walked the floor back in January of 7 That was ahead of the great financial crisis. And both Truman and Bill Clinton made stops here, both out of office at the time. Now Trump becomes the first president-elect to make his way to the trading floor, Jim, as he gets named to Times Person of the Year.

Jim Cramer (2:12)

Yeah, look, I think that this is very important because, first of all, he's not president yet. But second, this is a person, more than any of the people who were just mentioned who really kind of links his performance ratings to the stock market, particularly the Dow, the atavistic Dow. And David, I think that by coming here at a moment when the NASDAQ is incredibly high, you got a high bar to be able to continue. I know this sounds crazy, but President Biden, the market has done quite well.

David Faber (2:41)

It's not crazy. We know the numbers. It's been a very strong couple of years. And we also know that president-elect Trump does look to the market more perhaps than certainly a President Biden or maybe any President in terms of at least a way to judge his own progress. I can remember that from his first term. We would occasionally even see tweets at the time that were very similar to what we might be discussing on air at that very moment. And so he does pay close attention, perhaps fitting for him to be here in that way. But to your point, Jim, 20,000 Nasdaq, I mean, you're going to, you know, the question, of course, we keep entertaining with all the various strategists and other people who have various titles is, what are we going to see this coming year? Can we continue that momentum 3 years in a row?

Jim Cramer (3:21)

Well, I think that what we saw from President Reagan in that great quote, it was an amazing time when he came here, which is, let the bears be.

Carl Quintanilla (3:31)

Well, thank you very much. President-elect.

Donald Trump (3:33)

It's a tremendous honor. I brought some of our compatriots along with us. They're going to do a beautiful job for you for the next four years. And it's really been something very special. And I have to say Time magazine getting this honor for the second time. I think I like it better this time, actually. But we did a good job. We had a great first term, despite a lot of turmoil caused unnecessarily. And but the media has tamed down a little bit. They're liking us much better now, I think. If they don't, we'll have to just take them on again. And we don't want to do that. But I do want to thank Time magazine. I've been on the cover many times. I don't know who has a record, but I can only probably talk well about 25 percent of the covers. 25 percent are great. The others I just sort of hide. But it's been an honor. And every time it's an honor, I will tell you. And thank you very much for doing it. And thank the whole group at Time. Really very professional people. Thank you very much.
