Hey babes, it's Paris Hilton. So I was checking my points balance in the Hilton Honors app the other day, and yeah, I've got about a billion, which feels excessive, even for me. Just kidding, you can never have too many Hilton Honors points. And I want to do something iconic this summer, so I'm giving away all my Paris points. Just find somewhere you've always wanted to stay, then go to my socials or Hilton's and tell me about it. Just make sure you're a Hilton Honors member, and I might be sending you Paris points, because when you want points that make your summer even hotter, it matters where you stay.

Hi, and welcome to Harvard Business Review's The New World of Work. I'm Adi Ignatius, Editor-in-Chief of HBR. Sorry for the delay, we started a little late for, we had some technical difficulties, but we are okay now. So, if you are new to this show, every week we talk to an expert about the future of work. How we're collaborating, how we're innovating, how we're coming together.
I guess I would add to those topics, how we deal with crises. As we do this show, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is continuing. It's causing direct business issues for a lot of us. It's causing indirect issues for even more of us in terms of the emotional strain of coping with yet another crisis. So, we hope in this show to talk about even that, some of the emotional aspects of coming together more effectively in work in the future. So, we have a great guest today. Before I introduce her though, let's hear from our friends at Unisys.

**SPEAKER_5** (3:07)
When you think about how the cloud can help your business, are you thinking big enough?

**SPEAKER_3** (3:13)
We can help you drive more value from the cloud.

**SPEAKER_6** (3:17)
We're Unisys and we do cloud really well.

**Adi Ignatius** (3:25)
All right, so our guest today is Linda Hill.
Linda Hill is a professor at Harvard Business School. She is an expert on leadership, on organization, I mean, on globalization and on innovation. She's the author or co-author of several very consequential business leadership books, including Being the Boss, The Three Imperatives of Becoming a Great Leader, and Collective Genius, The Art and Practice of Leading Innovation. Full disclosure, Harvard Business Review Press published both of those books. Linda is also a great person and I'm really glad to have her on the show. So Linda, welcome to The New World of Work.

Well, thank you for having me. It truly is a privilege to be with my publisher.

**Adi Ignatius** (5:05)
All right. Well, you've done a lot of work in the contemporary leadership area. I definitely want to talk about that. But I want to focus on what I think is maybe your primary focus right now, which is digital leadership. I guess the first question is, what does it mean to be digital in 2022? I would think a lot of us think, yeah, we're digital.
But I'd like to hear your take on, what does it mean to be a digital company, be a digital leader right now?

**Linda Hill** (5:34)
Okay. If I could put it a little bit into context. Digital, those are really tools that organizations needs to be competitive. If you are a digitally mature organization, you're an organization that can use those tools to be agile, to be innovative, and to really delight your customer with an end-to-end customer experience that is unique.
