From the Principal Toyota Studios, it's Morning in Memphis with Todd Starnes.

Ian August (0:08)

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Morning in Memphis. It is a beautiful day here in the 901 As you can probably tell by my voice, I am not Todd Starnes. He is out in the Golden State in California at a spiritual leadership conference. But don't worry, you won't miss him too much. He'll be back on the mic bright and early on Monday morning. Today, we kind of have a little staff takeover of the morning show. I'm Ian August, more known as Ian the Intern. I've been on the national show a couple of times. We have a couple of familiar voices who you will know if you're a loyal KWAM listener. Fasten over to Dylan. Dylan, what's going on here?

Dylan (0:45)

Ian, what's up, man? This is crazy, right? Like, is this allowed?

Todd Starnes gave us a mic. Is this really what he wanted? I don't know. We'll have to check on Todd because I don't know. He might not be in his right mind giving us a platform here, but we'll see. We'll see how it goes. It should be interesting for sure. Hi, I'm Dylan. You hear me on the Todd Starnes show. Sometimes. A lot of times you don't, but I'm there all the time. Helen, how's it going?

Helen Hazard (1:11)

I'm Helen Hazard. I'm also here. Todd is currently downstairs banging on the door, begging to be let in. He's like, please give me back the mic.

Disclaimer, no Todd Starnes was harmed during the production of the show.

Dylan (1:23)

Todd Starnes is fine. Like Ian said, he's in California, Spiritual Leadership Conference at Lancaster Baptist Church, which a lot of cool things are happening over there.

Helen Hazard (1:32)

That's true. And we're just a team here that, I mean, we're-

SPEAKER_5 (1:37)

We're basically siblings.

Helen Hazard (1:38)

It's true.

Dylan (1:39)

We get along very well. We actually hang out. We live in Memphis. We all hang out. Helen, you've lived in Memphis the least amount of times, but you still count.

Helen Hazard (1:49)

We're coming up on a year. A year will be October 31st, and today is October 1st.

John Covington (1:54)

October 1st. Wow.

Dylan (1:55)

It's spooky season.

Ian August (1:56)

It is. We just jumped into it.

Helen Hazard (1:58)

Yeah.

Dylan (1:59)

So we hang out.

We live in Memphis. To give you an example of how we hang out, we actually went to a Redbirds game this past, what was it, Monday?

Helen Hazard (2:07)

Last Tuesday. Last Tuesday. Yeah.

Dylan (2:09)

I've lost track of time, obviously. This was the International Championship game between the Redbirds, and I'm so mad at the other team that I forgot.

Helen Hazard (2:16)

The Manchester Red Wings?

Dylan (2:18)

The Red Wings. And Helen knows that because she's actually a Nationals fan, which is the MLB version of that team.

Helen Hazard (2:24)

You guys told me not to wear a Nationals jersey, and that's all I have.

Dylan (2:28)

Yeah. No, you have to wear a Redbirds jersey. If you go into a Redbirds game, Helen, that's what everybody knows.

Helen Hazard (2:32)

Well, luckily, I got there early, and they were giving out free t-shirts. Yeah, you got free t-shirts. It was like 2XL, but it's okay.

Dylan (2:40)

It fit me pretty well, Helen. Anyways, we did go, we hung out, and you guys, I don't know how this happened, because there's a lot of people there. This is the championship game. I don't know how this happens, but one of the staffers who's part of the events team came up to you guys. Actually, they came up to me and was like, do you and Ian, do you guys want to participate in a game mid-third inning?

Ian August (3:05)

Which, of course, I said, what's the game? As long as it's not trivia, I'll play it. Guess what it was.

Dylan (3:11)

She said, alas. It's an adult game. And we were like, wait, what's an adult game?

Helen Hazard (3:16)

Yeah, what exactly does that mean?

Dylan (3:17)

Turns out it was trivia.

Ian August (3:19)

It was trivia.

Dylan (3:19)

And you, so you guys wanted me to go very badly. And I obviously am not gonna do that.

Helen Hazard (3:26)

You did not succumb to our peer pressure, our healthy peer pressure.

Dylan (3:29)

I'm the oldest here, by the way. The oldest age in this studio right now is 27 Just wanted everyone to know that. Gen-Z takeover, by the way. So you guys participated in the game. I stayed back and watched from afar.
