You guys can't hear it, but I'm playing music.
It's the Ten Junk Miles song. Created by Corey Fain many, many years ago. It's a good one. And the people that are talking are Aaron, Kat, Tony, Silvestri and me.

**Mandi** (0:23)
Ten Junk Miles.

**Scotty** (0:25)
Yeah.
Hey, everybody, this is Ten Junk Miles, a runner's podcast. This is just everyday runners talking about everyday running issues. I don't know that some of the people in this group are not everyday runners. We'll dig into that a little bit. But today we have, say hello, Martin Erl.

**Barry** (0:43)
Hello.

**Scotty** (0:44)
We have Jen Matzabal-Robbins.

**Barry** (0:47)
Hello.

**Scotty** (0:48)
We have Barry Thrun.

**Barry** (0:50)
Hello.

**Scotty** (0:50)
We have Bill Schneider. Hello. And of course we have Mandi Florop.

**Mandi** (0:55)
Hello, I'm here.

**Scotty** (0:57)
This podcast is coming to you via Zoom unfortunately, last-minute cancellation, which means a whole bunch of people are sitting on a bunch of pastries right now that they were going to bring to the podcast tomorrow morning. Instead, they're eating them at home. And so Zoom, I don't like doing Zoom shows, but you know what else? Saves like four hours.
Didn't have to drive up there, didn't have to drive back. I mean, that's kind of nice. But-

**Jen** (1:21)
Thanks to Chicago traffic.

**Scotty** (1:23)
Yeah. Well, there's no Chicago traffic at nine o'clock in the morning. That's for sure. There's just cops cleaning up from the team takeovers last night.
The lakefront was a mess last night. There was a concert, a country western concert at the Morgan Waller, maybe?
At the Chicago, the former home of the Bears. The Soldier Field? The Soldier Field, yeah.
And there was just a lot of people out because it was really nice out. But not a lot of fireworks, which is kind of how this whole thing with the dog started. Fireworks made the, my dogs don't bark because of fireworks, but other dogs do, which makes my dog bark because she barks when dogs bark. So then when my dog barks, those dogs bark, then they bark again, then my dog barks, then the fireworks go off, those dogs bark, my bark. This just goes on and on and on all day long. And that gets everybody hopped up. So at any rate, we're going to start off like we normally do with me saying, how many miles did you run last week? And break it down for us. And then the extra question that was brought to us by Jen Matza is what's your next race that you're training for, just so that we know. Let's start with Barry, because inquiring minds want to know. Barry has been running like he just robbed a bank.

**Barry** (2:38)
So 123 miles last week. Monday was 17, Tuesday 16, Wednesday, Thursday were 15, Friday was 4 and 1 half, and then Saturday and Sunday, I paced at Kettle. That was 55 miles.

**Scotty** (2:53)
When you say these 15s, are they 15 or are they 10 and 5?

**Barry** (2:57)
It's usually multiples. So yeah, 10 and 5

**Scotty** (3:00)
Do you do a morning run or a night run?

**Barry** (3:02)
Morning, yeah, sometimes a little lunch, and then afternoon.

**Scotty** (3:06)
Why are you running 123 miles a week? What are you training for?

**Barry** (3:08)
Well, I had Kettle. That's, like I said, that was 55 miles right there.

**Scotty** (3:12)
You were training to pace someone at Kettle? Otherwise, I'd only been 100

**Barry** (3:15)
Well, yeah.

**Scotty** (3:16)
Okay.

**Barry** (3:17)
I take pacing seriously.

**Scotty** (3:19)
What's your next race that you're signed up for?

**Barry** (3:21)
Wasa Marathon.

**Scotty** (3:22)
Oh, the Wasa Marathon. Nice.

**Mandi** (3:24)
I'll be there.

**Scotty** (3:25)
Are you pacing or are you racing?

**Barry** (3:27)
I'm pacing.

**Scotty** (3:28)
Okay. And what pace group are you pacing?

**Barry** (3:31)
415

**Scotty** (3:31)
415 Okay.
Bill Schneider, how many miles you run last week?

**Bill** (3:36)
31

**Scotty** (3:37)
Can you break that down a little bit?

**Bill** (3:39)
Did a six and eight, a four and a 13

**Scotty** (3:43)
And what are you training for?

**Bill** (3:46)
Quick trip 50K next week.

**Scotty** (3:49)
Very nice. You're doing the whole 50K?

**Barry** (3:50)
Oh, I forgot about that.

**Scotty** (3:52)
What was that, Scott? You're doing the whole 50K?

**Bill** (3:55)
Yes. My plan is this is going to be a test run for me.
I'm going to hopefully do nine miles before and then try and get through the 50K for a 40 total. And after that, I'll decide if I'm going to sign up for your race, but I got a upper hamstring issue right now and it's kind of sore.
