Look, sometimes shows like today, we could have some tongue-in-cheek content. It can be very adult-heavy. Our bosses every once in a while have to remind us, hey, there are younger listeners listening to this program. So that's why we decided to do this segment specifically for them.
We call it Fun Facts for Kids.
SPEAKER_2 (0:23)
It's time for Hammer and Nigel's Fun Facts for Kids.
Hammer (0:29)
These are real pieces of information, okay? Nothing that we've made up.
Scientific, proven pieces of information that I think young listeners of The Hammer and Nigel Show will enjoy and share with their friends.
Nigel (0:42)
I disagree.
Hammer (0:44)
Like this.
Some diseases can be hidden for years. Tuberculosis, hepatitis, and several other infections can persist with very few or no obvious symptoms before causing serious health problems. So kids, according to scientists, you might not even know that you've got HIV.

Fun facts for kids.
Hammer (1:13)
Hey kids, do you like camping? Do you like playing outside with your friends?
Nigel (1:20)
Who doesn't?
Hammer (1:21)
Did you know that mosquitoes are associated with more human deaths than sharks, lions or crocodiles combined?
Nigel (1:30)
Shut up.
Hammer (1:31)
They transmit diseases such as malaria, yellow fever and others. The mosquito itself isn't doing the killing.
It's the virus that it bites you with.
SPEAKER_2 (1:42)
Fun facts for kids.
Nigel (1:44)
You're telling me that my kid could dive a mosquito bite other than a shark or a lion.
Hammer (1:52)
And he might have HIV.
Hey, kids, did you know your brain can manufacture pain and a body part that doesn't exist anymore? Let's just, for argument's sake, say you go camping with your dad, and a bear or a shark, if you're in the ocean, rips your arm completely off your body, and the doctor has to perform an amputation and take the rest of it off. You can still experience severe phantom limb pain originating from the nervous system's representation of where you would have a missing limb.

Your pillow accumulates sweat, skin cells, oil, saliva, microorganisms, and dust mite debris. It gradually builds up.
So, if you go a long time without washing or cleaning your nighttime pillow, it might be dirtier than your anus.
SPEAKER_2 (2:53)
Fun facts for kids!
Hammer (2:57)
Hey kids, speaking of your anus, penworms can crawl out of you while you're sleeping.
Female penworms migrate out of the anus usually at night and deposit thousands of microscopic eggs on the surrounding skin. That's why intense nighttime anal itching is the classic symptom.

Fun facts for kids!
Nigel (3:24)
This is not a, that was not a fun fact for a kid.
Hammer (3:28)
Some spiders and hamsters practice sexual cannibalism.
Females of certain species sometimes eat their males during or after mating. Hamsters often mate and then eat their own babies.
SPEAKER_2 (3:44)
Fun facts for kids!
Nigel (3:46)
I don't believe any of that.
Hammer (3:47)
These are scientific facts, Nigel.
Nigel (3:49)
I don't believe any of that.
Hammer (3:51)
Sleep paralysis can produce terrifying night fear.
Nigel (3:56)
Yeah.
Hammer (3:56)
You can awake from REM-related muscle paralysis and remain active.
Some people hallucinate. They hear voices, footsteps, or even the sensation that someone is setting fire to their chest.
SPEAKER_2 (4:11)
Fun facts for kids!
Hammer (4:15)
Real pieces of information for the younger listeners of The Hammer and Nigel Show.
Nigel (4:20)
I've had this sleep paralysis before. It's not fun. I didn't think anybody was setting fire to my chest.
Hammer (4:26)
How about the anal itching?
Nigel (4:28)
Oh, that's every night.
