Now, as we said earlier, sometimes we get criticized on this program for not being kid-friendly. It's not really the demo of this show, but sometimes we do take it a step too far.

I mean, there's ratings that you could look at that are called like 6+, you know what I mean? So kids are included in the process of gathering and aggregating ratings in some way, shape, or form. You could argue, you could make that argument, right?

Correct. And we do very well with the 6+, often number one, but sometimes we can get a little too into the weeds. So once in a while, for the request of our bosses, we're going to back off the gas and do a segment for our younger listeners that we call Fun Facts for Kids.

Up until the 1980s, which isn't that long ago, it was wildly believed that babies could not feel pain and were operated on without anesthesia.

Flies vomit on food.
They liquefy solid food by regurgitating digestive enzymes onto it, then slurp it back up. So if you're having a cookout in the summer and a fly lands on your hot dog or it lands on your piece of watermelon, just know you're about to eat throw up.

Some lakes and ponds can harbor brain-eating amoebas. You can find these living in very warm freshwater, and it's dangerous if contaminated water goes forcefully up your nose.

Male baby chicks, little chickens, are often tossed into a grinder as babies because roosters aren't as tasty as hens.

Male giraffes will nudge a female's butt in order to prompt urination. It's a process called Fleman sequence.
The purpose of the Fleman sequence is to establish whether or not the female giraffe is in breeding season.

A male giraffe will then take a mouthful of the urine, and if he enjoys the taste, will proceed to stalk her until she relents. The process takes some time with the male giraffe having to establish dominance via very high intensity.
