Where were you in the exact moment?

I was in a unit at New Farm. I was about to fly out somewhere that day. I remember seeing it on TV early in the morning.

I was in a blue with my girlfriend at Boondall, and she was on the phone. I remember saying, we should stop having this boo about something. I think the world's ending.

**Susie O'Neill** (0:32)
Really?

**David Lutteral** (0:33)
Yep.

And that stopped the fight?

**David Lutteral** (0:35)
Yep.

I was in grade four at Assembly, and the principal started crying on Assembly telling us about it.

Started crying?

Yeah. It would have been the next morning, because I feel like it was 10 p.m. when I was aware of it.

**Susie O'Neill** (0:46)
Oh, okay, because I saw it in the morning.

**David Lutteral** (0:48)
Yeah, I remember it being...

I must have gone to bed early.

Back then, there was no social media, so you would have watched it on the morning news.

Because remember around the same time stuff kept happening in the morning? Yeah, it was like ANSET stopped. I mean, I know it's nothing similar, but I was flying a lot to places, and I feel like every morning I woke up to fly somewhere. Were planes canceled that day?

**Kip Wightman** (1:06)
Yes, they were canceled that day, yep.

**Susie O'Neill** (1:09)
And then I remember ANSET maybe got canceled one day. It was like all these times I was meant to go away, I didn't go.

**Kip Wightman** (1:15)
Before September 11, airport security was so laxed.

**Susie O'Neill** (1:18)
Yeah.

So I'm just trying to work out.

It was easier to get through the security quicker.

**Kip Wightman** (1:26)
Yeah.

So I always imagined if it was the Olympics, well, because it was the September 11, the Olympics started September 15th, the year previously.
So if that ever happened a year previously, like four days before the Sydney Olympics started, what it would have done to the Olympics. I was wondered, would it have done anything? It would have absolutely rolled on, but security definitely beefed up at Olympics after that.

Yeah, so it was pretty late. It was like the first plane hit it, it's telling me AI at 10:46 p.m. Ah, okay. Brisbane time.

I must have already been asleep. Were you still awake?

Yeah, just, not a, just whatever. I just remember someone upset somebody, probably her upsetting me.

The fact that you remember it was a big blue though, must have been that.

I don't specifically remember where I was.

You were in grade four. That's where the principal started.

Yeah, we had a full school assembly and he was just telling us about it. And I remember him starting to cry because I didn't fully understand the magnitude of it in grade four. You know what I mean? Like, obviously I knew it was bad, but I didn't fully.

I knew it was bad, but I didn't think it would have cried.

It was seeing him get upset that baby go, oh wow, this is big.

That was my girlfriend's name.
