We are joined by our favorite, our favorite Spice Girl and our favorite Voice Judge, because we know The Voice continues 7.30, Monday and Tuesday on 7 and 7 Plus. It is Melanie C.
**Melanie C** (0:16)
Hey, good morning.
**Susie O'Neill** (0:19)
It's so good to have you on. We're just, Luttsy and I were looking at your photo of your tour, your tour photo. Can you explain that, Luttsy, or someone else? I can't put it into words.
**Luttsy** (0:27)
Hot, hot, hot.
Like just like athletic, like muscles in all the right places. Incredible. You look fantastic. And I know you've got to be fit for a world tour. Was that part of the inspiration or what? Where's that coming from?
**Melanie C** (0:44)
You know, being Sporty Spice, it's always been a big part of my life. And do you know what? I actually did that photo shoot when I was in Australia last year. I was doing all of the artwork for my album. And you know, when you've got a big thing coming like that, because the album is actually really inspired by my love of fitness. There's some, you know, little fun little references in there for like fitness and working out and being sporty. So yeah, I wanted to look the part.
And I love it. I love staying fit.
**Susie O'Neill** (1:14)
There's a bit of pressure, isn't there? I thought of that. You're Sporty Spice. You can't exactly turn into Fatty Spice, can you? You've got to be like really fit.
**Melanie C** (1:21)
I guess. It's fortunate that I enjoy it, you know? And I think also, because I'm such a physical performer as well, I want to be able to run around on stage. I want to be able to sing and, you know, not be compromised by my fitness.
So that's what, you know, inspires me to carry on being fit.
**Nick** (1:35)
How do you keep, because you have a hectic schedule, you're on The Voice, you're touring, you're just getting married. How do you keep your fitness schedules up when you're in and out of hotels, various weird gyms or no gym?
**Melanie C** (1:46)
Yeah, you know what, it is tough. I'm quite disciplined, really. I think especially if I've got a show, it's a good time for me to focus. It's like part of the ritual of feeling like physically ready, mentally ready.
So yeah, it's a bit of a non-negotiable when I'm working. But after getting married two weeks ago and having like a kind of family, friend honeymoon, I was in Ibiza for two weeks and I didn't train. Two weeks straight and that's a long time for me. So she went back to the gym today and it was glorious. It hurts, but I loved it.
**Susie O'Neill** (2:19)
Can we talk about your husband because he's Australian or is that a private thing? Okay.
**Melanie C** (2:24)
No, I'm happy to talk about him. He's the best.
**Susie O'Neill** (2:27)
He's a, you met on a dating app?
I feel like it's really rude asking you these questions. Okay. But he's Australian. It's fine. Yeah, he's Australian.
**Melanie C** (2:34)
Yeah, it's out there. So I was like, so I was single, you know, I'd been in a long-term relationship and you know what it's like, you're like, oh, I never want to date ever again.
And then you're on a night out with your girlfriends and you have a few drinks and they're like, oh, let's set you up a dating app, you know, profile. So we did that and he is a very handsome man.
And I thought, nothing's going to come with this. He lives in Sydney, I live in London, you know, what's the point? But I did have an upcoming DJ tour when I was going to be in Australia. So I thought, he's, he's good-looking. I should go for dinner with him, you know, just for one night, he can take me out for dinner. And fast forward two and a half years and here we are married. Wow.
**Luttsy** (3:15)
Melanie, I just, I mean, I'm, you know, I dabbled in the dating sites myself. But I mean, if your picture came up, I think I would just presume that it's someone being silly. Like I wouldn't think Melanie C is like, you know, I'd swipe right obviously, but I wouldn't think for a second that that's the reality of that. And surely he thought that as well.
**Melanie C** (3:37)
Well, you know, the particular one it was, it was the app. It is a lot of people in the public eye on it.
**Nick** (3:45)
It's called Raya.
