1,315 years after the Battle of Covadonga, when the Muslims invaded Iberia and attempted to conquer all of Europe, we are releasing Run Hide Fight Infidels. This is Friendly Fire.
I was hoping we'd get for the intro for this episode, one of those like calls to prayer from the minarets, Oh, anyway, I hope, dear audience, we've roped you in with this riveting, urgent, covadanga discourse, but we're not just talking about ancient history. No, no, we're talking about Daily Wire's new movie. If you have not subscribed, shame on you. Shame on you, what are you thinking? You go to dailywire.com/subscribe so that you can see the movie that Variety is writing about. You can see it, we'll get to the Variety review. but you'll see the movie that Slate is calling Deranged, and they don't know the half of it. If you haven't seen the trailer, here it is.
SPEAKER_2 (1:07)
Your country is beneath contempt. We who love and serve Allah fought back against the Americans and the Zionists from the scourge of secularism and the lands of unbelief.
Michael Knowles (1:27)
Anyone going to listen to Captain Saunders tomorrow? The retired Delta Force soldier with the new book out?
SPEAKER_3 (1:32)
He's the polar opposite of those brain dead protesters.
Matt Walsh (1:35)
Given the current climate, should Clay Saunders even be allowed on campus? Mr. Saunders is a close personal friend of Chancellor Friedman. This is a decision I cannot fight.
SPEAKER_3 (1:43)
There are three ways Islam will conquer the West. Through immigration, through the wombs of our women, and by using our nation's freedoms against us.
Are you paying attention?
SPEAKER_2 (2:10)
Listen carefully, the great Satan America will fall.
You are infidels. The bodies of women are not pure and the men's souls are unclean.
SPEAKER_3 (2:30)
What makes them so dangerous? Their goals are not in this life, but the next.
Matt Walsh (2:40)
Anyone? I got friends here.
SPEAKER_2 (2:42)
I can't just leave.
SPEAKER_3 (2:42)
Listen to me.
Michael Knowles (2:43)
In the law.
SPEAKER_3 (2:45)
We cannot run or hide from what is coming. We have to fight.
When you die, you are nothing. Only one way to find out. That's the American way.
Michael Knowles (3:13)
Now, I know that was pretty subtle. So for those of you who didn't get the subtext of what was going on, a bunch of Muslims take over a school with the help of the leftist students. Variety is calling this movie Islamaphobic. Matt, would you like to respond and correct the record?
Matt Walsh (3:31)
Great to be with you guys, by the way. It's always quite burdensome to be with all of you. That's not the word I wanted. I'm sorry. Look, I think it's very Islamaphobic, and I think we can embrace that. If Islamaphobia, if that's even a word that means anything, then sure, let's embrace that. I think that the promise of The Daily Wire has always been, or the pitch has always been, well, we're going to make movies that you can't get anywhere else. We're going to make the movies that no one else will make. We'll make the movie like Netflix won't make, Amazon won't make.
One thing you could certainly say about this movie, having seen it myself, of course, is that it definitely fulfills that promise. This is certainly one. You're not going to find this on Netflix, so you literally can't go anywhere else to find this movie or anything like it. And that's reason enough to go check it out, I'd say.
Michael Knowles (4:28)
Yeah, I would say in the fevered dreams of Charles Martel himself, you probably wouldn't see this movie. I think Pope Pius X would say, like, hey guys, slow your roll a little bit. This is a little heavy handed on the old Muslims, wouldn't you say? But it's not just the Muslims, it's also the purple-haired liberal students who have a very strange alliance that a lot of us have been talking about for a long time. And Ben, you've been calling attention to for many years.
Ben Shapiro (4:54)
Yeah, I mean, obviously, the movie is, I would say, sort of a mashup of like Red Dawn and Blazing Saddles, but about radical Muslims.
And so it's a lot of fun. It's awesome. For the people who have not seen it yet today, or you should go subscribe and watch it right now. By the way, we should say Run Hide Fight was our most successful movie release ever at The Daily Wire. Our day one numbers on Run Hide Fight Infidels are doubling the numbers that we did on the original Run Hide Fight. So already, tons and tons of people are watching it, and the reviewers are hating it. Yeah, they're calling it Islamophobic. Again, these are the same reviewers who were saying that one battle after another needed to win Best Picture Oscar, which was just a radically anti-American piece of crap about how America was a white supremacist country and murdering federal officers was an active good. And so what this movie is, it's about the Red Green Alliance, really. It could have been called Useful Idiots. Basically, you have a bunch of blue-haired liberal protesters who are taking over the college campus, obstructing events, and all the rest, and they are used by their Islamist friends in order to take over the campus. Things don't go right for them, I would say, from there on in, as has been historically the case. And people are focusing on the politics of the thing, but the reason that I'm kind of mashing up the Red Dawn with the blazing saddles of it is because there is a fairly serious point here that I think Slate was best, the ones called the deranged. The reason they said it was deranged is because they said that we took an evil glee in portraying what exactly would happen to the blue-haired liberals if radical Muslims took over a campus.
