The Charlie Kirk Show

Charlie Kirk (0:03)

My name is Charlie Kirk. I run the largest pro-American student organization in the country, fighting for the future of our republic. My call is to fight evil, and to proclaim truth. If the most important thing for you is just feeling good, you're going to end up miserable. But if the most important thing is doing good, you will end up purposeful. College is a scam, everybody. You got to stop sending your kids to college. You should get married as young as possible and have as many kids as possible. Go start a Turning Point USA college chapter. Go start a Turning Point USA high school chapter. Go find out how your church can get involved. Sign up and become an activist. I gave my life to the Lord in fifth grade. Most important decision I ever made in my life, and I encourage you to do the same. Here I am, Lord, use me. Buckle up, everybody. Here we go.

All right, welcome everybody. It's October 5th, 2026 We're here at the Wye Reef High Studios in Phoenix, Arizona. I'm a little out of it because I have been seating the chair to Blake. You did a great job.

Blake (1:30)

Thank you very much.

Charlie Kirk (1:31)

Thank you for holding it down. I was off the grid for four days. I did a really amazing camping trip with my two eldest children and it was great. I'm telling you people, touch grass, go do it, get off your phone. It will change your life for the better. I certainly feel that way. I'm catching up on the news as well.

We're just going to get into it. The big news out of the weekend from all accounts is what's going on in Brazil. Heck yeah.

Blake (2:00)

I want to actually say this because it feels a little crazy.

One of the first things we did when I joined the show was the last election in Brazil, which was not a good one. It was, of course, very close. The incumbent conservative president, Mayor Bolsonaro, I remember Charlie would always say Bolsonaro because he would assume it was a Spanish name, but actually it is just Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro. And he lost to Lula, the left wing guy. It was very close. It was one of those suspicious races where all the early results were in his favor. And then in the Northeast part of the country, which is the most left wing, the poorest, the shadiest in a lot of ways, late results gave Lula this very narrow victory.

And then they had stuff where they had kind of their version of January 6th, where some supporters of Bolsonaro occupied the Capitol building. Bolsonaro is in Orlando for a bit. It's been pretty dramatic. Brazil is like America, but on steroids in a lot of ways. They have even more aggressive judges, even more aggressive lawfare. And now they have, it looks like, an even more dramatic comeback because Bolsonaro's son, Flavio Bolsonaro, he ran for president against Lula. It was their first round and he won 47-45. It's headed to a runoff, so it's not a secure thing yet, but it's looking, odds are very strong, that we'll get a conservative win there.

Charlie Kirk (3:21)

Yeah, so it's going to a runoff. That's going to happen October 25th. So it's not a huge long, I actually kind of appreciate that, that the elections happened pretty close together. But what's interesting about this story is, as you said, the parallels to some of the Trump saga that we've all lived through. I mean, he survived an assassination attempt. They banned him for running for office. He's now serving a 27-year sentence.

Blake (3:43)

His son is running to get his father out of prison.

Charlie Kirk (3:46)

That is actually part of his, he's going to seek amnesty for his father. And so what's also interesting is that he was losing in the polls. The polls had Lula up, and yet here they have this massive surge. People are taken to the streets. And then what's crazy, so obviously, Flavio is the eldest son of Jair.

I've met him in person, I should know this.

But then, get this, Michelle Bolsonaro, the wife and Flavio's stepmother, she was elected senator for the Federal District, her first elected office as the top vote getter there. Carlos Bolsonaro, the second son, was elected senator for Santa Catarina. Jair Ranon Bolsonaro, the youngest son, who's only 28, elected to Federal Deputy for Santa Catarina. Renato Bolsonaro, Jair's brother, also won a seat in Congress, and according to Brazilian reporting on the family's results, Eduardo Bolsonaro, third son, did not run. He has been living in the United States. So you got the whole family right there accounted for. But yeah, I actually met Jair before he was imprisoned. Very nice man, very, very gregarious, tons of charisma. And so this is just a fascinating story. And then on the backdrop of this, what a lot of people are pointing out is that since USAID has been demolished and de-constructed, you've got a crazy trend of right-wing candidates throughout South America winning elections. And this is the crazy part, I think, for all of us to look at this, right? Since USAID was dismantled, Latin America's right wing keeps winning and its left keeps losing. So by an average, if you look at all this together, plus 23 points, I don't, it's beyond a conspiracy theory. It might not be, it might be causation without correlation, or correlation without causation, rather, but it is fascinating.
