No joking, it's a draft. They're going to introduce a draft to British youth who are, well, not predisposed to going into the armed forces, especially as it will require them to lay down their lives, their life's blood to decide which side of a line Kupiansk is going to lie on. Kupiansk! Where's Kupiansk? I'm not going to send my son or my daughter to die for that. That's likely to be the attitude of the vast majority of British parents to the clearly signaled media onslaught today that conscription was coming. Well, they need conscription if they're going to have a war. The question, therefore, is why do we have to have a war? And how will we fare in that war? And we'll be deep diving into that subject in the course of the show tonight. But the ancient and peculiar hatred by the British ruling elite, whoever they are, red ties or blue ties, is continuing apace, indeed deepening. It has never been worse, according to Sergei Lavrov in his remarks just yesterday. The British have hated different incarnations, different czars, different political systems, different presidents, but it's been constant. They have hated and envied. They have harbored, brooked jealousy, and the reasons are not hard to find. If you go looking for them. The Russians had no need of indulging in the scramble for Africa, because they already had an empire in their own home region. And the state which they formed empire, as it was under Tsarism, was so filled with treasure, so filled with land and wealth, minerals, gold, silver, everything that you could possibly want, Russia had under its own feet. We, the British, didn't have that good luck. And that which we had under our own feet, we willfully destroyed in the course of the next couple of hundred years. But Russia didn't make a foreign empire in as much as its own hinterland became its empire. And that empire was so great that even Mrs. Thatcher, I saw her doing it, evinced a great deal of resentment that such a country should have such wealth within their borders. And it has been, I suppose, narrative, it's been a paradigm of British ruling elite thinking that the Russians were too big, too rich. They needed to be broken up. They needed to be regime changed. They needed to be manipulated so that they could see things more our way. And that looked like it was going to happen in the 1990s, in the era of the drunkard Boris Yeltsin. But as soon as Vladimir Putin picked Russia up, dusted it down, stopped people picking its pockets, whether local oligarchs or foreign corporations and shock treatment merchants who came in and devastated the living standards, indeed the life expectancy itself of the Russian people in the 1990s, a kind of cold bath of capitalism, people decided that's not the future we want. And so Putin has had the support of the vast majority of Russian people. There's no point in kidding yourself about that. The only opposition to Vladimir Putin is nationalists, communists, socialists, who are even more hostile to what passes now for the Western Empire than even Vladimir Putin is himself. So forget about regime change. There isn't going to be any.
And the future belongs in that Eurasian heartland, that great land mass, which adds Russia to China, China to Russia, which adds the emerging economies of the global South, India, Iran and many, many others. It's where most of the people of the world live. It's where most of the wealth of the world is. It's where the sun is rising. Why do I labour these points? Because, you'd need to be mad, if you knew anything about Britain, to imagine that we could last five minutes in a war against the Russian Federation.
Three warheads, three missiles rather, with five warheads on each, destroys Britain completely. Everything about Britain, everything in Britain, will cease to exist. Now, of course, the British have nuclear weapons, though those are under the control of the United States, and require dual key unlocking by the United States to permit the British to unleash such nuclear weapons as they happen to have at sea at any particular time. And, of course, if that permission was given, and if the machinery worked, then tens of millions of Russians would be dead. But Russia would still exist. This is a country of 11 time zones we're talking about. This is a country stretching from Europe all the way to Vladivostok, where I've just recorded a speech, which will be played at the Eurasian Economic Forum in Vladivostok in the course of this week.
