Welcome to Episode 51 of the Fire Safety Matters Podcast, where we bring you the latest news, views and opinion from across the UK, dedicated fire industry. My name is Brian Sims, and I'm the editor of Fire Safety Matters Magazine. We're delighted that this podcast is sponsored by Fire Safety Event, which runs at the NEC in Birmingham from the 27th to the 29th of April, 2027 Fire Safety Matters is once again serving as the lead media partner for the exhibition. To register for the show, visit www.firesafetyevent.com.
As always, I'm joined on the Fire Safety Matters Podcast by my colleague Mark Sennett, the CEO at Western Business Media and also the founder of Fire Safety Matters Magazine. Hi Mark, how's things with you?
Mark Sennett (0:52)
Yeah, all good. Thanks, Brian. Busy period as we record this, it is the week before Fire Safety Matters Live in Manchester. We should have hopefully got this out ahead of Manchester's FSM Live event on the 1st of October. So if you're hearing this, come and join us at Emirates Old Trafford, the cricket ground on the 1st of October, completely free.
Full day of CPD, it's co-located with the Institute of Fire Safety Managers Conference and the National Association of Health Care Fire Officers Conference as well. That's NAFO. We've got a record, I think it is 64 exhibitors there. So all the great and good, all the latest products, services, training companies, all the key associations, they're all there. It's a full day of networking, education and demonstrations really, Brian. So do come and see us there. And then, gosh, two weeks after that, we've got the Women in Fire Safety Awards. So it is all go and then it'll culminate in our first FSM Live event in Scotland, or the 26th event, which we'll talk about a bit later. So I'm good. I'm a little bit leery-eyed. I've been all over the place the last couple of weeks, client meetings. I've been in Scotland preparing for this. I've been in Ireland for our different magazine, The Disney's Matters. So nice and early, we recorded this this morning, Brian, but I'm excited to get into the podcast. How are you feeling?
Brian Sims (2:12)
I'm very well, thanks, Mark. Same as you, obviously very busy at the moment preparing for FSM Live, and obviously the Women in Fire Safety Awards coming up as well. And of course, working on the November edition of the magazine, plus the FSM annual guide as well.
Mark Sennett (2:24)
Well, that one is a labour of love that, and this is the reason if you're listening that you should subscribe to get the magazine for free and print digital copies. And you can do that by going to our website, fsmatters.co.uk or throw in to search engine Fire Safety Matters. But you can see our past editions, you can see our upcoming editions and register to get them. But the FSM Annual Guide to UK Fire Safety will come out at the end of November, start of December. And it is 120 pages of analysis, insights into all the verticals in fire safety, whether it be sprinklers, whether it be active or passive fire detection, risk assessment, training, competency. There's some great content in there. So yeah, if you get a chance, go to our website and sign up to get that free. You could look at this year's edition, which is on the website now.
Now, like I always say, and that's a perfect link into this, you do not have to wait for this podcast to come out to get all the latest fire safety news, prosecutions, industry analysis, or overview of the latest products and services and solutions. You can go to our website, which I just mentioned, fsmatters.com.
And on there, you can look at the news sections, et cetera. But you can also see our upcoming webinars. You can, as I've just said, sign up to get print or digital copies of our magazine. You can sign up to get our weekly newsletter in there as well. So do go to fsmatters.com or throw in to a search engine Fire Safety Matters Up Week Pop. You can follow us on X and you can follow us on LinkedIn. So there are definitely ways to interact with us. And it would be remiss of me not to say that you can now see all of our webinars on demand at ignitecpd.com. There's over 430 Fire Safety and Health and Safety webinars there. You can sign up as a subscription up there, whether it be monthly or annually. And as I said, it's all of our past webinars, including all of our past seminar sessions, our FSM live events for the last couple of years. So there is so much content. We had 170 new webinars a year on there, and you can get a personalized CPD certificate for everyone that you watch to completion. So please do go to ignitecpd.com.
