File this one under Too Little Too Late. Okay. Fever General Manager Amber Cox, at the end of the season press conference, after the fever were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, read this statement about the way fever fans have been treated.

The attacks on our fan base have no basis in reality, and they need to stop, especially with members of the media, not you guys, not you guys, I'm talking about media who have never been to a game at Cambridge Field House.
Every organization in the league, every organization throughout professional sports, all the way down to youth rec leagues have to deal with occasional bad behavior from spectators. And anyone who crosses the line in an arena or online needs to be held accountable. I want to be really clear about that. There is a line and people need to be held accountable if they cross it. But here's the fact, we did not have one fan pointed out by a player who violated the WNBA Code of Conduct this season. Not one fan was removed from a game. We take this really seriously, and that is backed up by our security stats and the lived experiences of countless fans who we host at every game.

Now, she says, what we've been saying for two, three years now. Sam Kinnison, your thoughts?
Amber Cox (1:25)
What?

I didn't know you wanted to get involved with the discussion, Mr. Helper.
Just now you come out with all of this? After all the crap that this fan base has taken, you just now decide, you know, maybe, just maybe, the league and the media need to pump the brakes on calling our fan base racist, considering the only person that's ever been disciplined in our building for saying something inappropriate was Greg Doyle and Caitlin Clark's opening press conference. He's the only one that's ever been proven to have crossed the line.
And then Doyle, he writes this article, Caitlin Clark's fans may be a problem. Dude, you weren't literally told to go away from Caitlin Clark. Stay away from us for an entire year, dude. You creeped her out as a rookie, making the stupid heart hand gesture. And now you're going to lecture us. Kick rocks, loser. Good God.
