I brought this up the other day, I think, in a podcast, and I thought everyone did it. And there was people who were surprised.
So I was talking about how I went to dinner to the Norman on Sunday night, and you asked what I ate. And I said, well, Cliff and I always order two meals, and we divided exactly in half. Like literally, when we get our meals, we cut it in half with a knife, and we make it half on the plate, and we eat half and we always switch it, like every time we go out to dinner.
**David Lutteral** (0:39)
Or if it's two steaks to do this, or if you had the steak and he had the chicken parm, which you also split it.
**Susie O'Neill** (0:45)
Yep, anything. It could be...
**David Lutteral** (0:47)
Pasta?
**Susie O'Neill** (0:48)
Yes.
**David Lutteral** (0:49)
Pasta's hard to split too.
**Susie O'Neill** (0:50)
You just cut it in the center, and you just make it a little bit of a space on it.
If it's liquidy, it's hard to separate. So you have to be just honest with your... Soup.
**David Lutteral** (1:01)
Imagine soup.
**Susie O'Neill** (1:02)
But I just figured that everyone, if you're out with a... I don't usually do it with a friend, though, actually. It's more of a...
**Kip Wightman** (1:08)
It's a partner thing.
**Susie O'Neill** (1:09)
It's a partner thing.
**David Lutteral** (1:10)
I'm not a fan of it.
**Susie O'Neill** (1:11)
Although you know how I did it with the other day, which I was a bit squeamish about? Cliff's dad.
So we went out for...
**David Lutteral** (1:18)
That is weird.
**Kip Wightman** (1:19)
We're sharing with the in-laws.
**Susie O'Neill** (1:20)
Yes, because Alex was our daughter, and so Cliff and Alex decided to share for some reason because they wanted something together. And then, yeah, I said, I want to try these two things. And then Mal, who's my father-in-law, said, I'll share that with you.
And a small part of me thought...
**Kip Wightman** (1:35)
This is intimate.
**Susie O'Neill** (1:37)
I don't think I can share my food with my father-in-law.
**Kip Wightman** (1:40)
Yeah.
**David Lutteral** (1:41)
But I did it.
**Kip Wightman** (1:41)
That's strange.
**David Lutteral** (1:42)
I mean, I find that strange.
It does not sit comfortably with me at all. Not even the uncomfortableness. I just say, when I look at a menu and I order it, that's what I want. I don't want half of what someone else has. I mean, I just don't get that.
**Kip Wightman** (1:55)
I do do this. I do this with Morgan, like I do it. But what I find the problem is sometimes, if she really wants to share something, because she wants two different dishes, but I want one, then mine comes out. And I'm like, I don't, now that I've had two bites of this, I don't want to give it away.
**David Lutteral** (2:08)
You know, I don't want to give it away. The other classic is like, I'll just have a taste of yours. And then it gets arrived and they have like three quarters of it. And then you're still hungry and you haven't had a proper one. Although you share your Greek yogurt with Pam. That's true.
**Kip Wightman** (2:22)
Yeah, me and my dog share a Greek yogurt together. It's fine to share with Pammy.
**Susie O'Neill** (2:25)
Whenever we talk about sharing, I always bring the story up, which I find so funny, Luttsy. I hope you don't mind me telling it. When we went out for a work dinner in Sydney once, and you ordered a jug of Aperol spritz. And the waiter said, Luttsy's like, I'll have this, this and this, and a jug of Aperol spritz.
**Kip Wightman** (2:43)
Because we'd ordered a bottle of wine for you, me and I think producer Ash. And then Luttsy orders a jug of Aperol spritz.
**Susie O'Neill** (2:48)
And the waiter goes, how many glasses would you like sir? Luttsy goes, just one.
Or should I say, just a straw?
**Kip Wightman** (2:56)
But the waiter thought the whole time that Luttsy was joking, like he was like, no seriously, how many glasses?
**Susie O'Neill** (3:01)
Just one.
**Kip Wightman** (3:03)
You were trying to justify, like yeah, but it's just four drinks in there.
**Susie O'Neill** (3:09)
Anyway, I think it's fine to share with your intimate partner, but not with your father-in-law.
**Kip Wightman** (3:15)
Would you share toothbrush?
**Susie O'Neill** (3:17)
Not on purpose.
**Kip Wightman** (3:18)
But you've done it before?
**Susie O'Neill** (3:19)
Accidentally.
**Kip Wightman** (3:20)
Yeah.
**Susie O'Neill** (3:20)
