Market Moving Insight and Analysis join Jim Cramer, David Faber and me, Carl Quintanilla on the opening bell hour of CNBC Squawk on the Street. Welcome to Squawk on the Street. I'm Carl Quintanilla with Jim Cramer, at Post 9 of the New York Stock Exchange. Faber has the morning off. Futures have lost some gains as yields rise in response to this hot Q3 GDP print. 4.3, best in a couple of years. Consumption solid, the hottest headline on price in almost three years. Ten year is around 4.18. Our roadmap though is going to begin with Novo Nordisk. Shares are up in pre-market on this FDA approval of the company's weight loss pill, plus the latest read on the American economy. Third quarter GDP, as we said, much stronger than expected.
Tesla is at some all time highs again and the street is weighing in on the stock ahead of delivery numbers in a couple of weeks. Let's begin though with Novo Nordisk. Up sharply in the pre-market, the FDA approving the company's Wegovy Pill, making it the first oral GLP-1 cleared by regulators for weight loss. Novo says it expects to launch the pill in the US next month. Some chatter today, Jim, about how much of a head start they have on Lilly.
Jim Cramer (1:51)
Three months, it is a surprise. Now, remember that a pill is much preferred in a country versus a shot. If you are taking Wegovy, then people will move over, quickly migrate to the Wegovy Pill.
Carl Quintanilla (2:06)
Because once you're on one, you don't swear. Yes.
Jim Cramer (2:08)
Well, because the doctors are afraid. They're afraid that, look, let's say you are taking Monjaro right now, Eli Lilly. They're reluctant to say, listen, you should go do Wegovy, because what they'll say is, listen, you tolerate Monjaro, and we just care about toleration.
Carl Quintanilla (2:22)
First do no harm.
Jim Cramer (2:23)
Right. And that's been the way things go. And I think people who think, wow, there are people going to be really excited to move over to the pill, their advice from the doctors is going to be, no, there could be different reactions. And apparently, the doses are so high that there are some different changes in diet that you might have to do. We don't know enough about what the side effects are. We know this, the profession just doesn't like you to switch from one drug to another.
Carl Quintanilla (2:50)
But for new entrants into the market, it is a chance for no one.
Jim Cramer (2:53)
Yeah, and I think that there are a lot of people who are scared to give themselves a shot. A lot of people think a shot hurts. You have to take a shot every once a week. So I think it's a, yeah, it's a big win. I didn't see it. My chaperone is Eli Lilly, and I think three months from now, we say, okay, well, Lilly's in the market, but last night, I'm doing mad money, and I'm saying, oh, jeez, this is supposed to happen, because I didn't want to see her. I knew that for our trust that Eli Lilly would be down. I don't think it's going to be down huge because there's a couple of months.
Carl Quintanilla (3:22)
Right. I mean, it's not just about the inconvenience of a shot versus a pill, too. Storage, the ability to ship it around the world, that's a game changer on a pill.
Jim Cramer (3:31)
Anytime you have to put something in cold, although once you take it out, a lot of these drugs, once you take it out, you're okay, but you got to keep it refrigerated. People don't like that. People really have a shorter term. You stop, people stop after 13 months on the shot. They just don't like it. And this is going to be much longer. That's something David Ricks has talked about, the CEO of Lilly, he's told me when he's come on Mad Money, don't forget, the people just, they stop taking it. And one of the reasons they stop taking it is because, wow, I don't want to take a shot anymore. And they also say, listen, I'm thin, so I'm fine.
