It's September 18th, New York Rangers News Today starts now, AI powered and ready for kickoff. New York Rangers prospect Felix Farhammar, a 19-year-old defenseman, just noshed his first point in North America. This happened in his second game with the Muskegon team in the USHL. It wasn't just any point though, it was the primary assist on the game-winning goal in overtime against Waterloo.

He quarterbacked a four-on-three power play, calmly moving the puck. Farhammar then skated forward to draw defenders before making a smart pass to a teammate who scored the winner. This play opened up a clear shooting lane for his teammate, showing good hockey sense. This first USHL point comes after Farhammar played in the Rangers' rookie series against the Philadelphia Flyers' prospects just last weekend. He was noted as a pleasant surprise in those games, standing out among the other prospects. The Rangers drafted Farhammar in the seventh round of the 2025 NHL draft. He's seen as a long-term project and is expected to play NCAA hockey at UMass starting in the 2027-2028 season. Before coming to North America, Farhammar had a strong showing in Sweden's junior league, finishing third among defensemen in points last season.

His development path is one to watch as he continues his journey in the Rangers' system.
