Kip Wightman (0:05)

It's Nova 106.9, Nick, Luttsy & Susie O'Neill and CMC Rocks, guys. It returns.

David Lutteral (0:11)

It's such a cool, cool thing, CMC Rocks, and it's growing every single year. It's their 20-year bash, and I hear that the tickets are on sale from 10am tomorrow from axs.com today. It's such a cool event. And yes, you need headliners when you have big events. And who's bigger than these two kids, Brooks and Ronnie Dunn from Brooks & Dunn. Joining us live right now.

Kip Wightman (0:39)

How are you lads?

Brooks (0:41)

Doing good. Tickets on sale. Well, I hate it when nobody shows up.

Susie O'Neill (0:47)

There'll be people there. Don't you worry about that.

David Lutteral (0:49)

Certainly with country. I mean, you know what? It's been happening a bit lately with some acts, but country music just seems to be going from strength to strength, boys. I mean, there was a time in Brissy where we live, where there wasn't really even a country music bar, to be honest, because it's just, you know, we live in a city. Now you can't walk around the corner without hearing you guys or some of these great old tunes, you know, like every, everywhere.

Kip Wightman (1:12)

It's great.

Brooks (1:14)

I'll tell you what, I remember like at three o'clock in the morning, there may not have been a country music bar, but there were definitely bars rocking.

David Lutteral (1:22)

Damn straight.

Brooks (1:22)

You guys party hard and I love it. It's right in with us.

Kip Wightman (1:26)

So we'll see, we'll see. You want a few of the bars post show?

Brooks (1:29)

Well, it was, yeah, I would imagine, I'll probably be stumbling around out there somewhere.

David Lutteral (1:35)

We'll be your host. We know this city.

Brooks (1:36)

I don't know where we were. Yeah, it was like in the middle of town, you know, that whole long string of Fortitude Valley.

Ronnie Dunn (1:43)

I remember coming back, was it Rod Laver?

David Lutteral (1:48)

Rod Laver was in Melbourne. Yeah, he would have played there, which was great. But in Brissy now, we've got a whole scene here where you're playing as well.

Ronnie Dunn (1:54)

So it was insane. I don't think I'd ever seen anything like that.

Kip Wightman (1:59)

And I lost.

Brooks (2:00)

I passed out around three or four with dirt.

David Lutteral (2:03)

Okay, we're going to hook up. I'll get you boys covered in Brisbane.

Brooks (2:08)

He showed up sometime the next day.

Kip Wightman (2:09)

I don't know.

Brooks (2:11)

But he's called it somewhere. Where he wound up?

Ronnie Dunn (2:14)

Years ago when we first came out, when Clive Davison started the record label, Aristotle, was a friend of ours from Oklahoma. But then country, I'm going to get cyclical on you here, but country like, I'm not going to say dwarf, but yeah, it did rock and pop in the States.

I was thinking of what the catalyst was at the time. I know Garth came along to push that wave. Galf Brooks. Yeah. Nuts, crazy stuff. So I don't know. I think we're trying to figure it out by, we just played Nashville Saturday night. I'm getting schizophrenic here. Wow.

A big shot. Okay. Stay with me, baby. I know it's a little boring. Okay. But we played the Bridgestone Arena here in Nashville Saturday, kick stops about three songs in. It goes, how many of you is this your first Brooks and Dunn show? I swear to you, 85 to 90 percent called non-exaggerating. You know, just went off.

And they sing every word. And it's obviously the Internet. I mean, it has a lot to do with it, social media and all that. But it's crazy that it's caught on right now. I wonder what, maybe it's just a culmination of events and happenings and things that's causing it to do what it's doing. And these festivals, again, I'm going to stop after this.

Brooks (3:43)

Susie's sitting on ready.

David Lutteral (3:45)

She's ready to pounce over here.

Brooks (3:47)

She's bitter. She's bitter microphone three times.

Kip Wightman (3:50)

Can you hear what her question is?

Ronnie Dunn (3:53)

I don't want to cut you off. You go ahead.

Susie O'Neill (3:55)

It's only because, like the biggest, glad you mentioned Rod Laver Arena, and then you've gone down a few paths since that point when I had my first question. We've got the Olympics coming up in six years, and I think country is going to play a big part. But I reckon I crossed your path in 2002, because I was at the Salt Lake City Olympic Games, and I remember that was you.
