Hey, everyone, welcome to Rolling Stone's Nashville Now, Country is Here. Nashville is now joining us here in the Nashville Now cabin today. Director Steve and myself, your host Joseph Hudak, Deputy Editor at Rolling Stone. Joining us is Sheryl Crow, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member. She has a new album out called Pick You Up.

It is just one of my favorite interviews we've ever done. Steve, what did you think?

Steve John (0:32)

It was heartfelt.

Joseph Hudak (0:34)

Heartfelt.

Steve John (0:34)

It was emotional. It was joyful.

Joseph Hudak (0:37)

Hopeful.

Steve John (0:38)

Hopeful. Yeah. Yeah. Good word. Also, Sheryl Crow walked through our door.

Joseph Hudak (0:44)

Sheryl Crow.

Steve John (0:45)

There's still, I can't believe it. Yeah, I know. And she was so kind and so sweet.

Joseph Hudak (0:49)

So kind. It was like, you know, I said afterwards to you, it was like having either like a colleague I've worked with forever sitting across from us or like some relative, you know? It was wonderful. She was just, there was zero ego. Anything was fair game, didn't worry about anything and just could not have given us more time. I was really happy to have her.

Steve John (1:11)

I opened the door because you could hear them creeping. People come through our woods here and I opened it and I said, hey, she said, it's the right place. And she just said, Steve, if you were to ever tell us, Joe, in our teenage tree. That's right. That Sheryl would recognize you. She's like, I love the podcast. I love you guys. It was, gosh. I'm going to die on that one, man.

Joseph Hudak (1:31)

Sheryl Crow said she watches and listens every week. So that was terrific. All right. So we have a great interview with her about her record, Pick You Up, and a whole bunch of things. Wait till the end. It's really an emotional moment. Sheryl Crow, thank you for going there with us. Thank you for joining us. Up next, Sheryl Crow.

Hey, everyone. Welcome to Rolling Stone's Nashville Now. I'm Joseph Hudak, your host and deputy editor at Rolling Stone. As we say here in the Nashville Now cabin, Country is Here, Nashville is Now, and we have Sheryl Crow in the Nashville Now cabin today. Hello.

Steve John (2:23)

Let's do a clap for Sheryl.

Joseph Hudak (2:23)

If you don't mind.

Steve John (2:24)

I was going to.

Joseph Hudak (2:25)

This is amazing.

Steve John (2:26)

Well, applause.

Sheryl Crow (2:27)

Hi. Hi, how are you?

Joseph Hudak (2:28)

This is so wonderful to have you here.

Sheryl Crow (2:30)

I'm so happy to be here.

Steve John (2:31)

There's so much to talk about. I love this podcast. Thank you. I do.

Joseph Hudak (2:34)

Thank you very much. I'm a fan. We may have you sign something later, like an affidavit of that.

Steve John (2:38)

Like a check. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Joseph Hudak (2:41)

Yeah, endorse to me, though. Yes, okay, okay. Man, it's been a really busy couple of weeks for you.

Steve John (2:49)

It has been.

Joseph Hudak (2:50)

I saw you here in Nashville at the BMI Troubadour Award Dinner.

Sheryl Crow (2:53)

I heard you were there. It makes me mad how many people I'm finding out were there that I didn't see.

Steve John (2:58)

That is-

Sheryl Crow (2:59)

Robert Earl King. I can't believe, I mean, I would love to have met him. Jeffrey Steele, big fan of his work. Maren was there and I forgot to see her.

Steve John (3:07)

Oh, no.

Sheryl Crow (3:08)

Yes. But what a crazy night.

Steve John (3:11)

You were awarded the Troubadour Award.

Joseph Hudak (3:13)

It was. It is, like, we do a lot of industry events in this town, right? At the drop of a hat, drop of a cowboy hat, but that is my absolute favorite industry event.

Sheryl Crow (3:23)

I've never been to one, but man, it was, I mean, I say humbling, it was humbling, it was inspiring, it was emotional, it was a little bit like going to my own funeral, which was kind of fantastic. I wish funerals could be held before you pass, like, all the nice things that are being said about Dolly wouldn't have been great if, yeah, you know, yeah, that was Tuesdays with Maury, you remember that?

Joseph Hudak (3:47)

Yes, yes, yeah, that was a beautiful thing.

Sheryl Crow (3:51)

I know I wanted to start like a some sort of like Instagram or something where every day, it's like a dedication to somebody who's still alive, you know, everybody weigh in, tell me a story.
