This is a currency that people are holding, an infrastructure that they're using to either hold that currency or move that currency. And so, this is a trust game that is built over many, many years and through all the things that you do to earn that trust.

Kash, thanks so much for joining us. Happy to have you here.

Kash Razzaghi (0:19)

I appreciate it, super excited to be here.

SPEAKER_2 (0:21)

So, your CEO, Jeremy Allaire, he has called Arc Mainnet the most significant launch in company history since USDC itself.

And that the launch embodies the premise of what Circle has operated on since its founding in 2013 Those are obviously big words on the newest launch of Arc Mainnet. So, to just shine some context first and foremost on the praise that Jeremy has given to it, tell our listeners just broadly, like what is Arc Mainnet? What are these words being directed at?

Kash Razzaghi (0:49)

Sure. Yeah, I think you actually have to start from the beginning.

What has Circle set out to do with many others in this industry? And when Circle was founded 13 years ago, it was on this premise that money movement should be as frictionless and seamless as how content moves on the internet. And so everything the company has been working toward over the past 13, 14 years has been in that pursuit. Today, there's 30% of the world that are either unbanked or underbanked. Access to financial tools is sparse in many regions of the world. And so Circle's core mission is to create economic opportunities through this frictionless exchange of value. We've started with many different products, but the product most recently that has gained a lot of attention and adoption is USDC, the largest regulated digital dollar, where now you're giving access to dollars for people around the world that may have otherwise not had it. That has been very successful, and we're very proud of what we've done. But then the next phase is, how do you actually elicit more businesses and institutions using the public blockchain to move money?

We believe that Arc is a representation of the opportunity for institutional grade infrastructure. Now that there's regulatory clarity and more businesses and governments around the world really leaning in, they're going to need infrastructure that allows them to actually participate. We think Arc is that. When he says, it's the biggest innovation since USDC, we believe that USDC is the digital dollar, and Arc can be an infrastructure where that digital dollar moves along with other assets. So that's why it's so incredible for us, and the opportunity is so huge, simply because all the stars are aligning, so to speak.

And with Arc, we think we can have a huge impact.

SPEAKER_2 (2:47)

So Jeremy has those high praises for Arc and everything that it could do, and you just use words like this great opportunity, all the stars are aligning, right? So there's obviously heaps of praise, and a lot of potential, and a lot of hype and hope for what Arc could be. When did you, during the process of putting this together, of coming up with this platform, this infrastructure, really molding it, when did you have, say, an inflection point or a realization where like this could be something huge, right? When did that happen for you?

Kash Razzaghi (3:18)

Well, I mean, I'd say over the course of the last six years, I've been in a circle for about six and a half years, we have been working toward this pursuit every single day. And what's been super interesting is the different types of companies that we interact with, all the largest enterprises, banks, fintechs, payment companies, etc. The concept of seamless and frictionless money movement is a really intriguing concept, where settlement can take seconds and not days, and the cost of moving money can be fractions of a penny and not more than that. So, that concept is really interesting to anyone you talk to about that. But there have been so many hurdles in the way.

Lack of regulatory clarity being one, and second, the infrastructure not really being built there yet. So, when you think about the promise of the blockchains themselves, one of the premises of blockchains is that everything is transparent. Everything is decentralized and is transparent.

That's great in some cases. In other cases where there's real business flow, maybe those flows should not be as public.

SPEAKER_2 (4:20)

There's a balance. There's a balance.

Kash Razzaghi (4:22)

Privacy becomes really important. And so, as we spent a lot of time talking to companies around what their needs are, privacy has come up, and security has come up, and trust continues to come up. And so, I think our belief in Arc has evolved over many years of conversations. It wasn't this one moment in time, but now all those stars are aligning, as I mentioned, so we're really excited about that.
