Perry Romanowski (0:26)
Hello, Valerie, hello, hello, hello.
Valerie George (0:29)
Hello. On today's show, we're gonna cover lots of questions, including can using too much heat make your hair yellow? Can you turn your bronzer into an Spf 50 with drops from a serum?
What is the actual difference between Dermaglobe versus HydraFacial consumer results and clinical results? Is dimethicone bad for your scalp and hair? And finally, are there any benefits to scalp cleanses? But first, our beloved inane chit chat.
Perry Romanowski (0:57)
Valerie, you're a little contentious today because of your teeth?
Valerie George (1:02)
I am not in a great mood. I'm not gonna lie. I'm very tired. I clenched my teeth very hard and I broke a tooth and the crown that they put on wasn't sitting right, and I had to go back and get it adjusted.
Perry Romanowski (1:18)
Wait a second, you broke your teeth just by grinding your teeth together? You must have like a strong bite or something.
Valerie George (1:25)
I have a very strong jaw, yes. And it happened.
And now I have jaw botox, so I get very tired when I eat crunchy things. But nonetheless, it happened. I had to get it fixed.
Perry Romanowski (1:37)
Jaw botox, is it like actually botox, or is it like novocaine?
Valerie George (1:42)
It's actually botox, and they light up your jaw muscles with botulinum toxin, and it basically relaxes the muscles. And obviously I can still move my jaw, but I don't clench anymore with it.
Perry Romanowski (2:00)
You know, I did, I've listened to this book about biology and such, and I heard something interesting. You know, vultures are immune to the toxic effects of botulism.
Valerie George (2:11)
Interesting.
Perry Romanowski (2:12)
They built up an immunity. So to like a vulture, they wouldn't think botulism is even like a toxin or whatever.
So it's very interesting to me that like, whether something's a toxin or not is really animal dependent. And so when you hear these people talking about beauty products and, oh, they're full of toxins, it's like, is it really toxic to humans or is it, you know? So it's not so simple to say something is a toxin.
Valerie George (2:38)
Well, the poor older vultures who have to deal with the 11 lines on their bird brains.
Vultures have worse problems than wrinkles. They're not cute.
Perry Romanowski (2:50)
Yeah, I mean, to other vultures, they probably are, right?
Valerie George (2:56)
What do you have going on this week?
Perry Romanowski (2:58)
You know what I did?
There was like this spot on my finger, and I just kept picking at it. I'm like, what is this spot on my finger? Then they're like, I wonder if that's a wart, because I don't even know what a wart is. Okay. I think warts is like, witches have a wart on their face or something like that.
Valerie George (3:15)
Yeah, but really, that's probably like a mole, right?
Perry Romanowski (3:17)
Yeah, that's probably a mole, right? And they call it, yeah.
So then I'm like, oh, this is probably a wart. So I went out, and you know what the active ingredient for treating warts is?
Valerie George (3:26)
What?
Perry Romanowski (3:26)
Good old salicylic acid.
Valerie George (3:29)
Oh, that's right. On the over-the-counter products.
Perry Romanowski (3:32)
Right, right, so that's, I got like a little salicy, I don't even know if it's a wart. I just put this thing over it, so it probably is.
Have you ever had problems with warts?
Valerie George (3:43)
Well, my nickname in fifth grade was wart lip. So I'm gonna leave it up to you to figure that out.
Isn't that awful?
Perry Romanowski (3:51)
That's a terrible nickname.
Valerie George (3:53)
I won't name the person who gave me that nickname in fifth grade, because I don't want to embarrass them and make them feel bad about themselves. Also, their name was Michael Smith.
So I think there's probably a lot of people who might think it was them. And they may not remember giving me that nickname that haunted me. But I had warts so bad as a kid. At one time, I had 120 between my hands and feet.
Perry Romanowski (4:18)
Wow.
Valerie George (4:19)
And I had to go on this prescription medicine, and I had to get them removed, and they just went away one day.
