Perry Romanowski (0:26)

Hello, Valerie.

Valerie George (0:28)

welcome back. We have a good show. Today, we're gonna cover lots of questions, including how do different hair bond repair products compare? What makes nail polish strengtheners work? Does skin know when it's too dry? Finally, what are exosomes and why are they in skincare products? But first, a name chit chat. How is China?

Perry Romanowski (0:49)

China was great, Valerie. I was in Shanghai for about 10 days, doing some official IFSCC business, and then visiting some factories there, and I also spoke at a conference there. So it was pretty crazy.

Valerie George (1:05)

What happened to your luggage?

Perry Romanowski (1:06)

My luggage didn't make it there. So there was two days I didn't have luggage. I just had what I wore, you know? So I had to go running in my flat shoes and stuff because I have to keep my running streak alive.

Valerie George (1:17)

Oh my goodness.

Perry Romanowski (1:18)

So I had nothing, and it was for two days. But so when I first landed there, I had to go to the store and buy some clothes. But the thing is nobody speaks English there, right? And I just I'm walking around and I find this shirt, and it's got a collar and it's buttoned down. I'm like, all right, I'll get that. And I was kind of in a hurry because I was in a meeting. I was in between meetings. So I got this shirt. And then the weird part, it was this shirt. It was wrapped in plastic, but it also came with matching pants. And I'm like, I don't really need the pants. But OK, so I so I wear this shirt for like two days. It was the only thing I had for two days. So then I get home and I show my wife this shirt. And she goes, you know, that's pajamas.

Valerie George (2:06)

That's why it came with matching pants.

Perry Romanowski (2:08)

Right. I didn't even realize. I just it looked like a shirt to me.

Valerie George (2:13)

Oh, gosh. I bet you the people of China were like, who is this man wearing pajamas during the day?

Perry Romanowski (2:19)

I just thought like, you know, people in China probably just wore these loose fitting clothes and stuff. I didn't know.

I went to the store and bought the first thing I saw. And it was just this hanging shirt. It looks like a nice shirt, but apparently it's pajamas.

Valerie George (2:33)

Oh, my goodness. Well, while you were shopping in China, I was here with my dad and mom, my uncle and my cousin, the cousin who always got me into trouble when I was younger.

Perry Romanowski (2:44)

Oh, no.

Valerie George (2:44)

We were here doing construction in my lab.

Perry Romanowski (2:47)

Oh, wow. Building out the new lab, I guess.

Valerie George (2:50)

Yeah. Doing lots of demolition, making repairs, swapping out the insulation, filling holes. So we were very busy and very dusty.

Perry Romanowski (3:01)

It sounds like an episode of something on HGTV or something.

Valerie George (3:04)

Well, the demolition side and reinstalling some of it. But my cousin and I did demo these two walls, so that was fun because we're very good at that. He only dropped one sheet of drywall onto my back and head.

Perry Romanowski (3:17)

Ouch. It sounds like you've had a few injuries.

Valerie George (3:20)

I have a few bruises on me right now, but it was a lot of fun.

Perry Romanowski (3:24)

And you have that mark on your hand.

Valerie George (3:27)

Yep. My mom brought her cat with her. Her cat is very evil and she doesn't let other people touch her.

Perry Romanowski (3:34)

Oh.

Valerie George (3:34)

And she lets me touch her sometimes, but she does things where she tricks you. So you always ask if you can pet her and she'll tell you yes or no. She makes two very distinct different sounds, and she didn't tell me no. And so I said, okay, I'm going to scratch her head. And she let me. She kind of leaned into it, pretended she was liking it for about four seconds. And then she came around and inserted her fang into the pad of my thumb. I felt it go in. I had to pull it out. And I thought that really hurt. And it does really hurt. So hopefully it doesn't get infected. I can keep my thumb.
