Welcome to The Beauty Brains, a show where real cosmetic chemists answer your beauty product questions and give you an insider's look at the cosmetic industry. This is episode 313 I'm your host, Valerie George, and with me today is Perry Romanowski. Hi Perry.
Perry Romanowski (0:27)
Hello Valerie, good catching at 12 and 13
Valerie George (0:31)
Yeah, we are really racking up the episodes, and guess what?
Perry Romanowski (0:34)
What's that?
Valerie George (0:34)
In just two episodes, it will be my 150th episode with you.
Perry Romanowski (0:39)
Oh wow, can't wait.
Valerie George (0:41)
Can you believe it?
Perry Romanowski (0:42)
Yeah, that's amazing. How many beauty podcast shows have that many episodes?
Valerie George (0:48)
Yeah, even just 150 And in 17 episodes, which hopefully we'll get to before the year is out, I will have done as many episodes as Randy.
Perry Romanowski (0:59)
Oh nice. We'll have a big celebration.
Valerie George (1:03)
We sure will. Well, on today's show, we're gonna celebrate a few questions we have, including what is an aqueous cream?
Is the Ordinary Vitamin C trustworthy? Magical Sunbeam I'm Cream? What about it? And we have a frizzy hair question, but first, inane chit chat. But first, our inane chit chat.
Perry Romanowski (1:22)
Valerie, I heard there was an election, and I didn't vote for you, but only because you're not in my area. So what is this election that you were part of?
Valerie George (1:32)
Well, I was just informed, I won the title of Area 3 Director, which someone nominated me to run, and called me and said, well, you kind of self-nominated, but someone called me and said, hey, I really would love it if you ran, I think you're a good candidate.
And I was like, wow, I never really considered it. And so I ran and I won. And Area Director is kind of like, how would you describe this role, Perry?
Perry Romanowski (1:58)
Well, you're on the board of directors for a variety, for a big segment of the United States. And we should point out this is of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the US. National Branch. I guess it's North America, right? Except not Mexico, so Canada and US.
Valerie George (2:14)
Yeah. And basically in my area, Area 3, we have the California Chapter, Intermountain West Chapter, and the Southwest Chapter.
Perry Romanowski (2:24)
Well, that's a big amount of land. If you don't know the United States, that's a lot of land.
Valerie George (2:30)
Yeah. So I'm super excited to get more involved with the chapters and just see where this takes me.
Perry Romanowski (2:37)
Well, that is a lot of fun. Almost as much fun as having kittens in your basement.
Valerie George (2:42)
Yeah, how are they doing? Did you capture more?
Perry Romanowski (2:45)
I captured a total of four of the six kittens, and one of them I placed with somebody.
The other three I've been having in my basement for the last two plus weeks trying to socialize them. You know, stray cats that you find outside, even kittens, they don't like people, it turns out. You gotta teach them to like people.
Valerie George (3:07)
Domesticated cats don't like people.
Perry Romanowski (3:09)
Right.
Valerie George (3:10)
Well, they secretly do, yeah.
Perry Romanowski (3:11)
Right, well, yeah, they do like the food. So we're making some progress. They don't run away from me and try to scratch my eyes out when I pick them up anymore, so that's good.
Valerie George (3:20)
Aw, good. And how close are you to getting the other two kitties?
Perry Romanowski (3:25)
They were here at my house yesterday, and I almost got them, but they were too quick, and I don't have the trap anymore, so I gotta get the trap back. So, it'll take a little time.
Valerie George (3:36)
Yeah, and speaking of Intermountain West Chapter, I mentioned that a second ago. I actually am in Utah as we speak. Have you been here?
Perry Romanowski (3:43)
I have been to Utah, and I've actually spoken there a bit ago, but I go there frequently for skiing in the wintertime.
Valerie George (3:50)
Oh, cool. Oh, I forgot you were a skier. That's right. The old lip balm in your ski jacket.
Perry Romanowski (3:56)
My last name is Romanow Ski.
Valerie George (4:00)
Oh my gosh.
Perry Romanowski (4:03)
I remember they had small beers, so you go to a bar. They didn't sell 12 ounces, they sold like 11 ounces. I don't know what that's all about, but that's what I remember.
